Boarding Orientation ....Welcoming Our 2026 Boarders
Recently, the boarding house welcomed 15 new boarders into our home as they begin their journey toward joining us officially in 2026. With girls ranging from Years 8–11 and representing regions across South Australia, we were delighted to welcome our newest members of the boarding community.
On Sunday afternoon, we opened our doors to the girls and their families, with our current boarders proudly taking on their roles as buddies. Following a warm general welcome, our girls led families through the boarding house. It was heart-warming to see how proudly they showcased our home, while not their ‘real home,’ it is clearly a place where they feel a deep sense of belonging.
Our current boarders introduced the new girls to the much-loved game of Bench Ball, cheered on enthusiastically by Deputy Director Annabella Pettinau and Principal Kylie McCullah. Meanwhile, back in the boarding house, I spoke with parents about the key elements of boarding life: safe technology use, room allocations, daily routines, leave processes, and everything in between. There is a lot to learn for both parents and students, which is why evenings like this are so valuable. I was joined by Assistant Principal: Wellbeing and Engagement Suzie Crowe, who shared the many ways the day school team supports our boarders and the strong partnership that exists across College staff.
To conclude the evening, we enjoyed a relaxed family BBQ before the girls headed home for a restful night, much needed after an exciting afternoon and in preparation for their day orientation on Monday.
After school on Monday came the part of Orientation that everyone looks forward to: the traditional Yo-Chi run to the Parade. Our students guided the new girls along the safest route, all rewarded at the end with a well-deserved treat. Not even the rain dampened the enthusiasm!
We are thrilled to be welcoming so many new friends and families into our community in 2026. As Director, I could not be more proud of our current girls for the kindness, hospitality, and friendship they extended over the two-day orientation experience.
