Denise's Message

Dear families,
As Week 5 comes to a conclusion I reflect on the swiftness with which Term 4 is moving!
Grandparents' Day
Last week we celebrated our Grandparents. I was blown away by the number of attendees we had! This tells us that our students are very cared for and have many loved ones engaged in their learning and invested in their futures. This is half the battle! It can also assist us in building motivation in our students. Where intrinsic motivation does not exist, extrinsic or 'I do it because it will make ------ proud and they care' IS an effective stopgap.
Remembrance Day
Tuesday 11th November is Remembrance Day. Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. The day is also marked by war remembrances in several other non-Commonwealth countries.
Poppies are available for purchase in the front office until sold out.
Sports Day
Our annual St Michael's Sports Carnival is coming up on Tuesday the 18th of November. Thank you to the parents that have volunteered their time to assist with the set up and the activities on the day. The children have been practising some of the events during their PE and class sport lessons. We have some speedy runners here! We will also be encouraging team spirit, cheering on their house team members and being a good sport. It would be great if you could discuss with your child what it means to be a good sport, particularly for those children that struggle when they do not win.
2026 School Fees & Levies
Please see below the 2026 School Fees and Levies. We have aimed to keep increases to a reasonable level; however, some adjustments have been necessary due to rising operational and program costs across the school.
A reminder that school fees are charged per family, while levies are calculated per child.
We have also had to increase Camp fees to reflect the rising cost of camps and bus transport. In addition, we will be introducing a Year 6 Graduation Levy. In previous years, the school has worked to absorb the costs of the Graduation program and celebrations, but this is no longer sustainable.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure that our school continues to offer our children a rich and high-quality learning experience.
Please remember, if you are experiencing financial difficulty, I encourage you to make a time to meet with me. Together we can arrange a suitable payment plan that supports your family.
Important Update – School Communication App
Operoo is the current communication app used at our school; however, access to this App will cease before the end of 2025. This term, we will begin the process of transitioning to a new school communication tool.
We apologise for the delay in sharing this new App with you, as information from the new company has been delayed. As soon as we have this confirmed, we will forward the information to you. Thanks for your understanding and patience.
Building Update
Please find progress pictures of our building project below. We are certainly 'levelling up' at St Michael's. The corridor connecting the new and old building is taking shape. When this part of the build if finished, the entire school will be accessible.
