Welcome to Term 2!

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful school holiday break, found time to relax, and had a safe and happy Easter with family and friends. It has been lovely seeing our students return with big smiles, ready to jump back into learning and school life.

We are looking forward to an exciting and busy Term 2, filled with fantastic opportunities for growth, connection and celebration. There’s plenty happening over the coming weeks, and we can't wait to share it all with you. Let’s gear up for another great term together!

Janene - Long Service Leave

For those of you who may have missed it in the last newsletter, Janene will be taking some long service leave this term. This leave will begin as of week 3 and will be for a period of 6 weeks. Janene will be dropping her son off in Italy, as he has been given a contract to train with an Under 23 cycling team for 3 months, and then spending some time in Europe and the UK. During this time, I will be the full-time Principal.

ANZAC Day Service

It was wonderful to see some many of our MPS families at the Montmorency/Eltham RSL ANZAC Day service last Friday. Events like these are very important to many within our local community and ANZAC Day especially is a time to stop, reflect and give thanks to those who have served, fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Our School Captains did Montmorency Primary School incredibly proud with their Acknowledgement of Country and official Welcome to Service. Speaking clearly and confidently in front of such a large crowd at such a significant community event is no easy task, but they rose to the occasion beautifully. Their respectful and thoughtful words set the tone for the service and reflected the values we hold dear at MPS.

Mother's Day donations/raffle tix

A reminder that we are running a wonderful Mother's Day raffle this year, with some fantastic hampers to be won. All funds raised will go towards our Solar Upgrade. 

Get mum the gift she actually wants — a Mother’s Day Raffle win and not another ‘World’s Best Mum’ mug… Tickets can be purchased here or by following QR code below. Please also share this link with family and friends outside our school community!

We will be collecting donations to include in these hampers up until Monday, 5th of May. Think items a mum would love to win - choccies, candles, beauty items or something nice to drink. Donations can be dropped off at the school office. 

Sibling Enrolments 2026

Enrolments are now officially open for the 2026 school year, I know it seems early but it will be here before we know it! If you have a child who will be starting with us at MPS in 2026, please ensure to fill out and return their enrolment form to us as soon as possible. Enrolment forms can be accessed below, filled out eletroncially and returned to us at montmorency.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Parent/Carers' Puberty Information Session

The school will be running a Parent/Carers' Puberty Information Session in the coming weeks. Below is the information so please mark the details in your diaries:

Date: Thursday, 15th of May

Time: 6pm

Location: Montmorency Primary School - The Discovery Centre

This session will be run by Kate Wilde from The Human Development Workshop, who has a wealth of experience this area - which can be a tricky one for children and adults alike! The event will include an explanation of the content which will be delivered to Year 6 students in the weeks following this session, tips on how to broach this subject with your children (it's never too early) as well as the dangers of getting information from unreliable sources. 

Further information will come via Compass about purchasing tickets to this important session. Although it is aimed to families who have students in Years 3 - 6, any MPS community members are welcome to attend.
