R.E. NEWS
First Eucharist Information and Dates
Thank you to those who attended the information session and enrolment on Tuesday night. If you were not able to make it, an information sheet will be sent home. Father Roel has asked that those students who did not attend on Tuesday, attend the Family Mass this Sunday, 18th May to enrol. Mass begins at 9.00am. A Compass event will be posted, please consent/ decline and pay by the due date.
Important Dates:
Final Enrolment (for those who did not attend last Tuesday): Sunday Mass, 18th May at 9.00am - Mary Help of Christians Church
Sacrament - First Eucharist: Sunday 22nd June - 9.00am (Feast of Corpus Christi)
Family Mass - Years 1 & 4
Please join us at our Years 1 & 4 Family Mass this Sunday 18th May. Mass begins at 9.00am. All families are welcome. Students from Years 1 & 4 are asked to volunteer for readings, prayers and the procession of the gifts (Please contact your classroom teacher if you can help out). There will be a morning tea following the Mass.
LIBRARY
Students as Authors Writing Competition
Entries are open to students who would like to enter the "Students as Authors" competition run by the Armidale Catholic Schools Office. This year, students are asked to "write a story that will make us smile or giggle, or chuckle or laugh; a story to lift our spirits".
There are 4 age categories, with the winner having their story published on SORA Digital Library. Students are able to work individually or in groups. Entries close on the 30th May 2025. If you have any questions, please reach out.
NSW Premier's Reading Challenge
We are very excited to give the students at St Edward’s Primary School the opportunity to participate in the 2025 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge. This is a proud tradition at St Edward’s, and every student is invited wholeheartedly to participate.
Every student at the Infants Campus will automatically be signed up for the challenge and read books from the challenge as part of their class and library sessions.
Primary students wanting to participate in this year's challenge will need to see Mrs Michell in the library to sign up.
Login details will be handed out to all primary students who are participating in this year's challenge. If your child has not received their login details, please ask them to come and see Mrs Michell in the library or email cmichell@arm.catholic.edu.au
Students can start logging their books today using this link

Students are encouraged to log onto the PRC website from home to log their books, or Mrs Michell can log them in the library. Students should now start to log books they have read and also discover books that are part of the PRC using the link above. If you have any problems with logging books or access, please reach out.
The Challenge runs until Friday, 22nd August, 2025. Students can join at any time, but the end date remains the same.
PLEASE NOTE!! Any books on the list that your child has read (or you have read to your child for K - 2) over the summer holidays can be counted for this year’s Challenge.
SORA - Get free eBooks and audiobooks from your school
We encourage students to continue reading during the school holidays. St Edward's students have access to SORA, an online library offering a wide range of eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines. To log in from home, students will need their school email address and password, which can be obtained from their teacher. Below are instructions for logging into SORA.

Wednesday: 6C, 6M and 6O
Thursday: 1M, 1B, and 1W. Year 2 students who bring their library bag can swap their books.

Early Bird Reading Club: from 8.30 am every day when each campus is open.

Wednesday: Lego Club or Craft Club - Primary

Friday: Games and Lego Club - Infants
