Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,
Habemus Papam!
(We have a Pope!)
We extend a warm welcome to Pope Leo XIV. His message of peace and unity resonates deeply with our community values.
Our hearts are full of joy as we continue this Jubilee Year as Pilgrims of Hope led by Pope Leo.
Bishop Peter Murphy - 11th Bishop of Armidale
The Diocese of Armidale marked a momentous occasion on May 8th with the solemn ordination of Bishop Peter Murphy, our 11th Bishop. This historic liturgy brought together a wide representation of the Catholic community, including 29 bishops and 60 diocesan and visiting clergy. The Cathedral resonated with the presence of people from across the dioceses of Armidale, Wagga Wagga, and beyond. We warmly welcome Bishop Murphy to our diocese.
Well-being Check-In
At St Edward's, ensuring our students' well-being is paramount and fundamental to our school's mission. To ensure every student feels supported and connected in our school, we employ a multi-faceted approach that integrates regular anonymous student surveys and proactive check-ins. These surveys occur in Term 2 and Term 4 and this information provides us with valuable insights into the student experience here at St Ed's.
The intent behind our Living Well Learning Well Surveys is to gather feedback from students on various aspects of school life, including their sense of belonging, academic rigor, social connections, and overall well-being. The data collected helps us identify trends, understand the needs of different student groups, and tailor our support systems accordingly.
Beyond these broader surveys, our dedicated teams actively engage in regular check-ins with students. These conversations can take various forms, from informal chats in the hallways to more structured one-on-one meetings. The aim is to create a safe and trusting environment where students feel comfortable sharing their experiences, concerns, and any challenges they may be facing. This work is very important to us and we pride ourselves in ensuring that St Edward's School is a place where all students can thrive.
This year, I am excited to more actively include our students in analysing the data to support our next steps to ensure school improvement. I look forward to sharing some of the responses we are implementing as a result of this very important work.
We firmly believe that a strong partnership with our parents is crucial in achieving the best possible outcomes for each student. Your insights into your child's well-being and experiences of school are always welcomed, and we actively encourage open communication and collaboration. By working together, sharing information, and supporting each other, we can create a cohesive and comprehensive network of care that empowers every St Edward's student to be the best version of themselves and thrive. We look forward to continuing this important partnership with you.
Winter Uniform
We wish to advise parents that the official date for changeover from summer to winter uniform is after the June long weekend (Tuesday 10th June). However, as the weather has started to turn a little cooler, we are now allowing students to wear either full winter (INCLUDING A TIE) or full summer uniform during this transition period. This of course applies to Tuesdays and Thursday where school uniform is worn. School uniform items are available for purchase via LOWES in Tamworth. Thank you for your ongoing support with ensuring that you send your child to school wearing our correct uniform.
Best wishes,
Alison Hatton
