Year 7 Winter Sport

Year 7 Girls Netball:

Our Year 7 Girls came out excited for their first Netball tournament at Lyndale last week. We had a great day coming away with 5 wins, 2 losses, finishing in 3rd place. They became stronger and more confident as the day went on.

Congratulations on a great day of Netball!

Big thanks to Miss Poulton for training and taking the team out for sport!

Year 7 Badminton

Last week was a fantastic day for Lyndale Year 7 boys and girls teams. Year 7 girls achieved second by winning two matches. Unfortunately, they were beaten by Banksia Acacia in the grand final. They gave it a big fight and won some amazing points. Year 7 boys also did very well and achieved third. They had three wins and two losses. Well done for all players.

Big thanks to Mr. Liu for taking the teams out for sport!

Year 7 Boys Soccer:

Our Year 7 boys' soccer team had a fantastic day out at interschool soccer. In their opening match, the team came away with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Keysborough Banksia. In the semi-final, they faced a strong Dandenong High side—who went on to win the tournament—and despite a solid effort, went down 7-2. The boys bounced back in style, securing third place with a convincing 3-0 win against Minaret. Ghulam was a standout, scoring 3 goals across the day, while Zion added 1 and was unlucky not to score more after hitting the post twice with a powerful free kick in the final game. All players gave it their best and represented the school with pride—an awesome day all around!

Year 8 Girls Netball Teams:

What a day! Our two year 8 girls' teams made their way down to Gloria Pyke ahead of an action-packed day of netball. Both teams played outstanding netball and demonstrated amazing sportsmanship throughout the day. With some tough on court match ups both teams worked hard to come away UNDEAFEATED Champions. Looking forward to our upcoming regional competition.

Thank you to Eurisha for your help on the day! Big Thanks to Ms Poulton for training and taking the teams out for netball.

Year 8 Boys AFL Team

Thursday 5th of June was a very special occasion for sport at Lyndale SC, as for the first time in 10 years, Lyndale was able to enter a footy team into the District Inter-School Competition.

Our Year 7/8 boys headed out to take on Dandenong HS in a one-off match to see who would be crowned the district champions.

The boys were eager from the start and it showed on the scoreboard, kicking the first 3 goals of the match through Mikey, Ben and Taner. Another 2 goals in the 2nd quarter stretched our lead to 24 points at half-time.

Dandenong came out hard in the 2nd half and a lot of entries go into our defensive zone, but some spirited defending and tackling from Taner, Elias and Tommy, as well as 3 intercept marks from Jawad meant we were able to minimise their scoring opportunities. Pat, Mason and Moj presented well all day in the forward line taking some great marks under pressure.

With many of our players not having played footy before and going straight into a full 60 minute match, we did start to tire towards the end, but they still showed a lot of resilience to keep putting in effort for one another and kicked a further 1 goal and 6 behinds in the 2nd half to hold on for a 28 point victory!

A great day for our year 7/8 boys of Lyndale and hopefully the start of many more footy teams that represent the school in future winter competitions. Well done to all the boys that played, you should be very proud of the way you all represented the school.

Thanks to Mr Wilson for training and taking the team out for sport!

Year 8 Boys Soccer:

13 excited year 8 boys came to Tatterson Park ready to play! The boys dominated both Carwatha and Keysborough Acacia in their pool and came on top winning both games 2-1 and 4-0! We were onto the first final which was against Keysborough Banksia. The boys played with passion and amazing teamwork coming out on top 3-0. This took us to the grand final against Mt Hira. The boys were tired and had worked hard all day but still had enough in them to win the final 3-0!

M. Maxwell would like to thank the boys for their great sportsmanship throughout the day, special mention to Jerone, Buom and Kamron for filling in and being amazing Goalkeepers! Another thanks to Tutor Anna who helped out and was a great cheerleader for the day! Onto regionals, Well Done Boys!

Senior Winter Sport Update:

Senior Boys Soccer:

On Thursday the 8th of May our Senior boys' soccer team played out a hard-fought 4thplace. We started the day strong with 2 wins against Carwatha and Noble Park 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. Unfortunately, with only a side of 10 meaning we played one day all day the boys started running out of legs and were unable to beat Dandenong High in the Semi-final ending our day. It was a great effort from the boys with David Basalo scoring 5 goals and Bojan Ivetic leading the team very well.

Big thanks to Mr. Palleschi for training and taking the boys out for sport.

Senior Girls Netball:

Our Senior netball had a great day out at Gloria Pyke on the 8th of May. Heading into the day with 8 players we hit the ground running with a strong first round win. Regional Cross Country 2025

Coming off of a victory at division cross country, Lyndale was in high spirits last Wednesday heading into regionals. However, the school was in for a challenge to start the day, as their arrival to Ballam Park was met with freezing cold, wind, and heavy rain.

The day started with the 17-20 year old boys, braving through the weather to run a full 5km. Lyndale had only one competitor, Arman Mouradi, who defied nerves and isolation to set an impressive time of 00:17:58.547 The 16-year-old boys (Chanithu and Aref) also ran 5km, and put up an exceptional fight against steep competition.

Lyndale sent out two girls- Fatima Kobeissi  & Lauryn Butler for 17-20 year olds, and six girls for the 16 year olds (Anh, Muqadam, Melek, Iqra, Shenaya, Katja). These girls were landed with the worst of the rain (and even hail!) during the day, but they all persisted and performed to the best of their ability, holding their own. This demonstrated the resilience of the 16yold girls team we had competing.

The 15 year old boys were up next (Roshan, Ahmad, Ali Waris, Dilangez &Nawid), and the conditions started to get slightly improve. Lyndale's boys pushed each other intensely until the very end of the race, all competing to cross the finish line first. The 15 girls team (Zahra, Negah, Rose, Eloise, Dhruva, Jewel, Hannah, Dominique & Xyriel) reflected the same intensity as the boys, the girls ran their absolute best and cheering each other on once they finished their own race.

Lyndale was finally getting into the groove, as the sun turned from grey to blue. Our 14 year old boys (Dut, Steve, Nelson) were competitive, our 14yold girls (Ileesha, Nesandi & Hibah) gave it their all with a Ileesha running an impressive run!

The day finished off with our eager 12-13 year olds, starting with the boys (Ethan, Zayne, Sufian, Nawid). Ethan Peterson ran extremely well and placed 39th amongst our boys, and our girl’s team (Elana, Amsana, Hariny, Afzaa) performed their best in tough weather conditions.

This year's team should be very proud of how they handled both the pressure of regionals, and the unfortunate turbulent/extreme weather conditions. The competition is extremely challenging at this level, and our students exemplified the Lyndale value of Resilience exceptionally. Well done!

Thank you to Miss Poulton and Reuben for helping with our students at regional cross country!
