Junior School News

JUNIOR NEWSLETTER - JULY
Wow! It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the year already. Students in junior school have continued to demonstrate the school values of responsibility, resilience and respect in their interactions with their peers, staff and in representing the school while on excursions or at sporting events. Thank you to our students for working hard, caring for others and showing compassion and kindness.
At the time of writing this, parents will soon be able to access their child’s semester reports. It is important for students to reflect on the comments and assessments by their teachers. Students should consider where they can make improvements with their schoolwork or work ethic in classes to help them improve and grow during semester two. One way to demonstrate resilience and responsibility is to take on board advice on where one can make improvements and to work hard at reaching the potential that you have within yourself.
Also, at the time of writing, all junior levels will be having their celebration assemblies on the last day of term. Here we celebrate students who have achieved significant results in their classwork, have continuously tried hard at their work and/or have had 100% attendance in class. We also celebrate the students who have achieved the highest number of positive chronicles and recognise one student from each year level that has been a model student/member of their community to their peers. I look forward to posting some photos of this in our next newsletter edition.
A reminder that year level co-ordinators are monitoring student’s attendance and that parents and guardians are required to provide an explanation for any absence of their child, by either having a note on compass or verbal communication to the school.
We continue to have several students late to period one each morning. To avoid interruption to classes, students who are late at the beginning of the day and are not at class by the beginning bell of period one, are required to attend room J2 instead. This is also closely monitored and students that make repeated visits to room J2 for period one, will have consequences put in place, including home being contacted and informed. While we are aware that unforeseen circumstances can contribute to some being late on the odd occasion, there are too many students who are starting to make a habit of this.
There is a lot to look forward to over the second semester of the year, including the Year 9 City Experience excursions. More information will be provided to year 9 students and families throughout term three.
Finally, Mr Luke Wilson, our Assistant Principal is leaving us to take on a new position as Principal in another school. On behalf of the junior school team, we would like to congratulate Mr. Wilson on his well-deserved new role. It is with sadness that we say goodbye, as Mr. Wilson has been the backbone of the junior school here at Lyndale for several years and always provided students, staff and colleagues with support, advice and wise words, all with a dose of good humour. All the best Mr. Wilson.
I wish all students and their families an enjoyable break and look forward to working with everyone again next term.
Mr. Adam Nettleingham
Junior School Co-ordinator
