SAKG

Hello Green Thumbs,

Autumn is such a great time to get stuck into the garden. With the Grade 4 classes, we weeded a space along the Alban St entrance walkway which we planted out with calendula and nasturtium plants that students have propagated.

You may have noticed the tall yellow-flowered plants close to the Alban St entrance, these are called Jerusalem Artichokes - they are ready to harvest once they have stopped flowering. These are a very fun plant to harvest as you need to dig the edible rhizomes from the ground. These perennial plants die off during the winter and the remaining rhizomes will re-sprout next spring.

Happy gardening!
