Regional Cross Country

Congratulations to our students who represented our school at the Regional Cross Country on Friday 12 June.

All students demonstrated outstanding determination, resilience, and sportsmanship while competing against some of the region's strongest runners.

Poppy – 27th Place (9/10 girls) Aisha – 18th Place (9/10 girls) Bailey – 47th Place (11 boys) Banjo – 20th Place (12/13 boys)

We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school. Well done to all competitors on a fantastic achievement!

Essendon AFLW Visit

Our Year 3–6 girls had a fantastic opportunity to welcome Essendon AFLW players Matilda Dyke, Mia Busch and Sophie Van De Heuvel to our school!

The students enjoyed a 30-minute Q&A session, asking some incredible questions about the players’ football journeys, their positions, and what it takes to play at the elite level. The players also quizzed the girls on topics they had been learning about, with prizes awarded to those who answered correctly.

To finish the visit, everyone headed outside where the AFLW players demonstrated how to hold and kick a football before joining the girls for some kicking practice.

It was an inspiring experience for our students, who loved learning from such positive role models. Thank you to Matilda, Mia and Sophie, and the Essendon AFLW program, for taking the time to visit and encourage the next generation of female footballers!

Athletics Practise first 7 weeks of term (Carnival Friday August 28th)

Next term, students will spend the first seven weeks developing their athletics skills in preparation for our Athletics Carnival on Friday 28 August.

During Physical Education lessons, students will participate in a variety of track and field activities, learning and refining techniques in events such as running, jumping, and throwing. The program will focus on skill development, personal improvement, participation, and sportsmanship, while encouraging students to challenge themselves and support their peers.

We look forward to an exciting term of athletics and a fantastic Athletics Carnival to showcase the students' hard work and achievements.

Have a great school holiday, see you next term,

Miss Ryan

Grade 3/4 Design and Technology

This term, the Grade 3/4 students have been exploring the concept of forces and learning to identify and name different forces, including gravity and impact. To put their understanding into practice, students participated in an exciting Egg Drop Challenge. Working creatively and collaboratively, they designed and built protective containers to keep an egg safe when dropped from a height. Students investigated how gravity causes objects to fall and how impact forces affect objects when they hit the ground. It was wonderful to see students testing, evaluating, and improving their designs while developing their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Many eggs survived the challenge, making it a fun and engaging way to learn about forces in action!

Colourful Creations: Grade 5s Dive into Natural Fibres!

With guidance from our Specialist Teachers, Grade 5 students have been exploring the fascinating world of natural fibres, investigating their properties and how they are used in everyday materials. As part of this hands-on unit, students applied their knowledge in a creative tie-dyeing project, transforming plain socks into vibrant, one-of-a-kind designs. This engaging activity not only reinforced their understanding of how natural fibres absorb dyes but also encouraged creativity and personal expression.

Where our food comes from: Foundation

This term, Foundation students have been learning about "Where Our Food Comes From." They explored different fruits and discussed how food is grown, harvested, and brought to our tables. As part of their learning, students enjoyed a fun and creative Fruit Faces activity. Using a variety of fruits, they designed and made colourful faces while developing their fine motor skills and creativity. The activity encouraged students to think about healthy foods and where they come from, while also providing a hands-on opportunity to explore design and making. The Fruit Faces were both imaginative and delicious!
