Year 6 News

Reading
This fortnight, Year 6 students continued reading our class novel, Wonder and explored the author’s purpose, discussing why R. J. Palacio wrote the book and the important message she wanted readers to take away. Students also learned about Treacher Collins syndrome to build their understanding of the experiences of the main character, August. As part of our reading comprehension, students practised making meaningful connections through text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world thinking. Many students made strong connections to August’s feelings about starting a new school, linking this to their own thoughts and emotions about beginning high school next year.
