We are excited to welcome Mikayla to the Wollert Primary School community as our new Occupational Therapist. Mikayla has shared the following message to introduce herself to our families and community:

“My name is Mikayla, and I am very excited to be joining the Wollert PS community as an Occupational Therapist.

I am passionate about supporting children to build the skills they need to participate confidently and successfully in everyday school life. My role will focus on helping students develop skills across areas such as emotional regulation, sensory processing, fine and gross motor development, attention and engagement, social participation, independence, and classroom functioning.

I value working collaboratively with teachers, families, and students to create supportive and inclusive learning environments where every child feels understood, capable, and empowered to succeed.

I look forward to building positive relationships within the school community and supporting students to reach their full potential both in and outside of the classroom.”

Please join us in giving Mikayla a very warm welcome to Wollert PS!

In just two short days since joining our school, Mikayla has already made a positive impact on our students. Her warm and engaging approach has helped her quickly build connections, and it has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and confidence she is already bringing out in the students she works with.

Make it Right Room

The Make it Right Room continues to provide students with a supportive space to reflect, regulate and repair following conflict, challenging behaviours or difficulties in the classroom or yard. The purpose of the room is not punitive, but rather restorative — helping students build emotional awareness, develop self-regulation strategies and take responsibility for their actions in a calm and supported environment. Staff work alongside students to guide conversations, rebuild relationships and support successful transitions back into learning spaces.

The impact of the Make it Right Room has been positive across the school, with students increasingly using the space to reset, problem solve and re-engage in a productive way.

We have seen improvements in student regulation, reduced escalation of behaviours and stronger restorative practices between students and staff. The room also provides valuable opportunities to explicitly teach emotional regulation, communication and coping strategies, helping students develop skills that support both wellbeing and learning success.
