2026 NAPLAN – Individual Student Report 

Next Monday, our Year 3 and Year 5 students will receive their 2026 NAPLAN Individual Student Reports. 

The report shows each child’s achievement against the national average for their year level (shown as a black triangle) and the range of achievement for the middle 60% of students nationally (shown as a light shaded rectangle). 

NAPLAN is a valuable assessment tool that can provide useful insights into a student's performance. However, individual reports should be interpreted with care, as they reflect a student’s performance on the day of testing rather than providing a complete measure of their overall learning. 

NAPLAN results offer important information about the literacy and numeracy skills your child is developing through the school curriculum. These results complement the wide range of assessments completed throughout the year and assist both families and teachers in understanding a student’s achievement at the time of testing. 

Questions in NAPLAN are based primarily on the literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills students have developed in previous years of schooling. A small number of questions assess content from the year of testing and the following year. These questions are designed so that students can apply strategies and understandings developed through their earlier learning. This approach ensures that students of all ability levels have the opportunity to demonstrate what they know, understand and can do. 

It is also important to remember that NAPLAN represents only one assessment completed over a short period of time. Teachers use a broad range of evidence collected throughout the year to assess student achievement and determine progression against the Victorian Curriculum. As a result, NAPLAN results may not always align exactly with school report outcomes. When considered alongside classroom assessments, however, NAPLAN provides another valuable source of information about student learning and growth.

Recognising Achievement: 2026 NAPLAN Celebrations at St Francis of the Fields 

This year, we are delighted to share some of our outstanding NAPLAN results. In several domains, more than 80% of our students achieved the Strong or Exceeding proficiency levels. 

Congratulations to our students for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their learning. We also extend a huge congratulations and thank you to all our staff for their ongoing efforts and support. 

These achievements are not solely the result of the work undertaken by our Year 3 and Year 5 teachers. They reflect the cumulative efforts of all staff who have contributed to our students' learning journey over previous years and who remain committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for every student. 

We are extremely proud of these results and of what our students and staff have achieved together.

• Reading - 85% of students in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels 

• Writing – 87% of students in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels. 

• Numeracy – 75% of students in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels. 

Year 5 

• Reading – 78% of students in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels. 

• Writing – 70% of students in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels. 

• Numeracy – 78% of students in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels.
