Principal's Update

Dear Families, 

It is wonderful to be back at school with the children and teachers for the second half of the year! 

We have much to look forward to: 

• Our Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival (24 July) 
• Our Book Week Parade (21 August) 
• Our Year 3 Excursion (27 August),  
• Our 2027 Foundation Interviews – one of my favorite times!! (all term) 
• Father’s Day Breakfast & Mass (4 September) 
• Our School Disco (10 September) 

I share with you a reflection to be mindful of during this busy term… 

Lord, help me to be ready.  

Ready for the unknown, the unexpected, the 

unhelpful, the unwelcome. 

Help me to be ready, ever alert, knowing life will 

often present both opportunity and adversity. 

Let me be ready, unafraid of the future, always  

confident of Your powerful presence.  

Remind me often that, even with my best  

preparation and greatest efforts, my life relies on You.

Semester 1 Reports 

A reminder that all student reports have been released today at 4:00pm via PAM. We encourage all families to take the time to read and reflect on their child’s report. Children are often very honest and insightful about their own progress, so it’s valuable to listen to their thoughts. Start by celebrating their strengths before discussing areas for growth. 

In Week 3 (27-29 July), we will hold our Learning Conversations—another great opportunity to connect with your child and their teacher about learning and progress. Bookings are open and will close at the end of Week 2. Please see the flyer below.

Thank you to our dedicated teaching staff for their time and care in preparing these reports and conversations.  

NAPLAN assessment

Earlier this year, our Yrs 3 & 5 students completed the NAPLAN assessment. We have received the results, and they will be sent home with children on Monday. 

A note to our Yr 5 parents, you will need to keep the NAPLAN document in a safe place as it will be required for your child's Yr 7 enrolment application next year.

Pupil Free Day – Spirituality Day - Wednesday 5 August 

We will have the staff from St Francis of the Fields School, Strathfieldsaye; St Therese’s School, Kennington; St Joseph’s School, Quarry Hill; Holy Rosary School, Heathcote; St Monica’s School, Kangaroo Flat and CESL Office, Bendigo attending a school closure day on Wednesday 5 August where we will listen to wonderful speakers including: 

• Bishop Tim Norton SVD 

• Lisa McInnes-Smith 

• Stan Grant and 

• Kate Fogarty interviewing our new Bishop Rene Ramirez 

Please note that After School Care will be provided for those who require if for the day. Details for bookings will be sent to parents in the coming days.  

Parents & Friends Meeting 

Our next P & F meeting will be held on Thursday 20 August at 7.30pm in our staff room. 

All parents are most welcome to attend.  

Update on water damage 

Last term our photocopy room, meeting room, staff room and sick bay became water damaged after a significant storm. The Community Centre and Shed foyer were also affected.  

Pleasingly the photocopy room, meeting room and staff room have been renovated and are in full use. The Community Centre needs further repair work, as does the sick bay as further damage was found when the carpets were removed. 

Shed Unavailability

The shed will be unavailable for training use on the following dates in Term 3:

• Tuesday 4 August (afterschool) - Set up for Staff Spirituality Day
• Wednesday 5 August (all day and afterschool) - Staff Spirituality Day

Assembly  

4W & 4S will lead our next school assembly on Friday 17 July from 2.45pm in the Shed.  All parents, grandparents and guardians are most welcome to attend.

Cecilia McColl - Bendigo Youth Choir Tasmania Tour

Over the school holidays, Cecelia McColl toured with The Bendigo Youth Choir as they performed in the prestigious Festival of Voices in Hobart - Tasmania.   

Cecelia was the youngest performer in the BYC group.   

There were 82 other choirs from around the world attending the event.  

The choir performed in many indoor and outdoor locations over the 5 days including , Richmond, Salamanca Markets and on Mount Wellington (as it started snowing !) As well as attended other performances and workshops. It was a very busy time. 

The highlight - Bendigo Youth Choir was one of two choirs chosen to live stream a performance to the Antarctic sub stations!
