Benjamin Du Plessis - Queensland State Waterski Titles
Article written by Year 11 student, Ami Kaur

Year 10 student, Benjamin Du Plessis, recently competed in the Queensland State Waterski Titles, held at the Lower Burdekin Ski Club in May. Benjamin achieved scores of 4.50/55 in the first round and 3.00/58 in the second, marking a new personal best and placing him first in his division. Waterski scoring measures how many buoys a skier successfully rounds at progressively higher speeds, with each buoy contributing to the overall score. This highlights the technical skill and challenge behind Benjamin’s achievement. Having only begun the sport a year ago, Benjamin’s dedication to early morning and late evening training sessions has contributed significantly to his rapid improvement and reflects his discipline, focus, and strong work ethic. We congratulate Benjamin on this outstanding achievement.

We wish Daniel all the best for the championships!
Macy Durrand - Receive Respond at Tanks Art Centre, Cairns
Congratulations to Year 11 student Macy Durrand, whose work was recently featured in the Receive>Respond Exhibition at the Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns.
The exhibition opened on 22 May and ran through to 21 June, showcasing the work of just 30 selected young creatives aged 16–25. Macy’s inclusion was a significant achievement, made even more impressive by the fact that one of her pieces sold on opening night.
Macy is pictured with her two exhibited works (top left and bottom right).
