Senior Fitness Students Powering Ahead at Essential Fitness!

Our Senior Certificate III in Fitness students have been stepping things up this term—taking their learning out of the classroom and into the dynamic environment of Essential Fitness Gym! This exciting hands-on experience has given students the chance to put their knowledge into action while building real-world skills for the fitness industry.

Delivered through Central Queensland University (CQU), the course is expertly facilitated by Sonya Barber (CQU) alongside Ms Deanne Morrow, whose support and encouragement have helped students grow in confidence and capability every step of the way.

Students have been working hard behind the scenes, diligently completing their online coursework and embracing every opportunity to learn. Their visits to Essential Fitness have been a real highlight—exploring equipment, observing industry professionals, and practising techniques in an authentic gym setting.

Throughout the course, students have been developing skills and knowledge in areas such as:

  • Foundations of health and fitness
  • Safe and effective use of gym equipment
  • Designing exercise programs
  • Strength and conditioning basics
  • Communicating with and motivating clients
  • Workplace health and safety

The course also provides a strong foundation for careers in sport, coaching, and the broader health and wellbeing industry. For those dreaming even bigger, it can lead to university pathways in exercise science, physiotherapy, sports coaching, and more!

We extend a big thank you to Essential Fitness Gym for their ongoing support and for providing such a fantastic learning environment. Most importantly, congratulations to our students for their enthusiasm, commitment, and positive energy—you are making us proud!  We can’t wait to see where this journey takes you.
