FROM THE CLASSROOM

"This week in Maths, we have been exploring length, mass, and capacity. We learned how to convert between different units of measurement and practised solving worded problems using our conversion skills. We also explored the area and perimeter of composite shapes."

"This week in Reading, we have been working on inferring and answering questions based on the text Once. We have been using our prior knowledge to challenge our thinking. We have also been annotating the text on our laptops and following along with our teachers to improve listening and comprehension.

This week in Writing, we have been working on our innovations based off our model text “The Compass”. We made progress learning all of our tools and spent a long time understanding the text before making our own. Our teachers give us daily feedback on what we have written so far and help when required."

"This week in Wellbeing students learnt who to contact if situations feel unsafe, and how to identify if they might need help. Students also learned how to talk to a trusted adult when they need help.

In Inquiry, students learnt about safety and how important it is to have different passwords for apps and digital systems and not go on unsafe websites."

LEARNING INTENTIONS FOR NEXT WEEK

READING

• Students will continue exploring the text 'Once', with a focus on making inferences, making connections, and summarising key ideas.

WRITING 

• Students will plan and write their own descriptive narratives as part of the Talk for Writing program, incorporating the writing toolkits and strategies they have learned throughout the term.

MATHEMATICS

• Students will continue exploring length, mass, and capacity. They will learn to measure and compare these attributes and convert between different units of measurement.

WELLBEING

• Students will recognise and name feelings they might have when they are away from home on camp. They will identify strategies to manage their feelings in preparation for camp. 

INQUIRY

• Students will continue learning about how to keep themselves safe online. They will explore their own digital footprint. 

REMINDERS

Uniforms

We are still seeing some students wearing black pants or shorts to school. A reminder that Ramlegh Park's uniform requires navy blue bottoms. As the weather becomes colder, students may wear white or navy blue long sleeves under their uniform. Black long sleeves and hoodies should not be worn under the school uniform.

CAMP INFORMATION

Our upcoming Year 6 camp at Woorabinda is fast approaching. Students have received a packing list, and the event is now available on Compass for families to finalise the remaining payment.

• Classes 6A, 6E and 6F will attend from Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 August.
• Classes 6B, 6C, 6D and 6G will attend from Wednesday 19 to Friday 21 August.
