Literacy
Our new mentor text for Term Four is Wombat, a rich blend of narrative and informational writing centred around the fascinating world of wombats. Throughout this unit, students will be introduced to new vocabulary such as satisfied, stealth, and snarl, and will focus on identifying factual information within the text. This learning will support their ability to extract key details and deepen their understanding of how facts can be presented within engaging storytelling.

Mathematics
In our current mathematics lessons, we are focusing on place value, specifically the tens and ones places. Students are actively engaging in activities that involve composing numbers using tens and ones, as well as identifying the numbers represented by these place values. They are also practicing writing and verbally expressing two-digit numbers.
Our applied Maths topic focuses on Duration. Students will identify events that take a long or short amount of time and compare these events. They will also develop problem-solving skills through direct comparisons of duration, length, mass, and capacity.

Inquiry
Our new Inquiry Unit, Our Sustainable World, focuses on developing students’ understanding of the conditions necessary to sustain the environment. Through this unit, students will explore how seasonal changes impact living things and investigate how consistent, thoughtful actions can contribute to caring for the natural world around us.

Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, students have been learning how to build positive friendships and play safely together. They’ve discussed the importance of following rules, showing respect, and including others in play. Students have also practiced strategies to help keep themselves safe and learned how to ask for help when they need it.
