Mr Andrew Devoy
We are proud to share some exciting news from our Technologies Department. Last Friday, the Marist College Ashgrove Certificate II in Engineering – Formula High School racing team achieved an outstanding result, taking first place in a highly competitive endurance racing event. This year’s race featured 20 schools and 32 race cars, all vying for supremacy.
Our team completed an incredible 114 laps, finishing four laps ahead of the nearest competitor—a remarkable feat that reflects the students’ dedication, teamwork, and technical excellence. This victory is especially impressive considering it is only the fourth time the College has entered the event. In just a few short years, our students have progressed from newcomers to champions, showcasing not only their engineering skills but also their resilience, strategic thinking, and commitment to excellence.
This success is the result of months of hard work and preparation. From the initial design and construction of the vehicle to rigorous testing and race-day strategy, the team demonstrated what it means to apply classroom learning in real-world, high-pressure environments. Their ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and support one another was instrumental in achieving this milestone.
The experience gained from this win will be invaluable as our Year 11 team begins preparations for the 2026 campaign.
A huge congratulations to the Year 12 team consisting of the following students: Hugo Baker, Joachim Horgan, Ethan James, Robert-Roy Peake and Andreas Specht. This day will be one that they will remember for a lifetime. The experience gained from this team will be invaluable as our Year 11 team begins preparations for the 2026 campaign.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous sponsors—JBE Group, Jentech Electrical, Mr Tuning, Noone Clothing, Thermal Edge Coating, Harts Paints, Workshop 28, Bridgeman Stainless, and ProCloud—for their ongoing support. Your contributions play a vital role in making these opportunities possible for our students. We also acknowledge the College Leadership Team for their continued belief in the value of this program and its role in placing Marist College Ashgrove on the map in yet another sporting discipline. A special thank you must go to Mr Henry Krutil for his technical assistance on the day. To Mr AJ Gray for his leadership and coordination with the team, Mr Ward and Mr Dougherty for their help on the day.
Congratulations to our incredible team on this well-deserved victory. Your success is a shining example of what can be achieved when passion meets perseverance.
