Internship Experience for High Potential Learners – Year 12

The Cyber Defenders team from Marist College Ashgrove, who placed 2nd in ASCC 2025, recently had the opportunity to experience a day in industry — thanks to our one of the Competition Sponsors - Orro Group.

Their work experience day included:

  • A Security Operations Centre (SOC) walk-through
  • An incident response (Blue Team) simulation
  • Lunch and networking with the Orro team
  • Cyber awareness training on phishing management
  • An introduction to penetration testing
  • A study and career Q&A session

A huge thank you to Suzi Domazet and Stuart Myerscough from Orro Group for delivering such an engaging and well-organised experience for our boys. The planning, energy, and passion behind the day was truly appreciated by the students.

It was inspiring to see the students’ confidence grow throughout the day. One student shared: “This initiative has reinforced that I want to pursue a career in cyber security — and now I can actually see how to get there.”

This is exactly the kind of impact we envision when we engage our boys in the High Potential Learning Program — connecting students with real-world experiences that spark lasting interest in inspirational futures. The world really is theirs to take.

Marist continues to offer a wide breadth and depth of engaging activities, programs, clubs and competitions.
