Term four has been such a special way to finish 2025, full of celebration, reflection and pride. It’s been a term that truly shows how far our Senior School students have come this year, as learners, leaders and young adults ready to take their next steps.
We started the term with All Hallows Eve, one of our favourite whole-school events. Students and staff went all out with costumes, music and activities, and the energy around the school was amazing. The Year 10s took out the win in trivia, with Years 11 and 12 coming in as runners up. A big thank you to Jack Bell for facilitating and running the event, supported by Jack Forbes and our Year 12s, who also helped with the BBQ and ran the sausage sizzle for lunch.
Our Year 12s finished their KCHS journey with an unforgettable Activity Week, enjoying outdoor laser tag, a movie day with smashburgers and a trip into the city before coming together for a beautiful Graduation Ceremony at Kensington Town Hall. We also shared a wholesome whole-class lunch with Anne, Maddy H, Josh, Rhys and Adam, where everyone laughed, reflected and took Polaroid photos to capture the memories. This cohort has truly been the heart of Senior School, leading with compassion, humour and authenticity. They’ve left their mark in so many ways, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved. Nearly every student is stepping confidently into a TAFE course, part-time job or School Based Apprenticeship Traineeship next year, showing the strength, resilience and character that define them.
Our Year 11s finished the year on a high with their own Activity Week, watching Grown Ups and heading to Battlekart, before coming together for a lovely Morning Tea with families. Their leadership and teamwork this year have been incredible to see, and we can’t wait to see what Year 12 brings for this amazing group.
Our Year 10s have had a busy and creative finish to the year, filled with hands on learning and real world experiences across all subjects.
In Maths with Massimo, students impressed us with their innovation through the Theme Park Project, combining maths and design to build imaginative parks complete with budgets, rides and marketing campaigns. In English with Anne, they explored multimodal informative texts and developed their own pitch to adapt a graphic novel of their choice, blending creativity with analysis. Over in Media with Georgia, students worked through the production process by developing animation storyboards and scripts, preparing for filming as part of their learning intention: “We will finalise pre production materials, including scripts and storyboards, to prepare for filming.”
In PE and Health with Mark, students stayed active with laser tag, bike riding, swimming and personalised workouts, focusing on fitness, wellbeing and teamwork.
They also showed great teamwork and responsibility beyond the classroom by assisting with catering at the Year 12 Graduation, helping make the event such a success. A huge thank you to Deb, Jody, Ava and Chris for leading and supporting the catering team. The food was incredible and a real highlight of the evening. It has been a wonderful term of creativity, collaboration and growth for our Year 10s, setting them up beautifully for Year 11.
It was also wonderful to see all our Year 10 and 11 families at our SSG Day, supporting students with their IEPs, reflecting on their progress and setting new goals for 2026. We really appreciate the time and care families give to these conversations.
Many students also completed their RSA course this term, well done Lara, Yacob, Owen and Kyle. Furthermore, our students have continued to lead by example. The Outdoor Recreation students; Ari, Lara, Zack, Marco, Blake and Charlize, supported the Year 9s on Beach Camp, showing initiative, patience and genuine leadership.
Through the Variety Leadership Program, Owen, Clementine, Liv, Layla and Marco represented KCHS with pride, building confidence and community connections beyond our school. Owen and Clementine also did an amazing job hosting the Awards Night, speaking with confidence and representing our school beautifully.
We were so lucky to have Freja, our Social Work student, with us this semester. Her warmth, professionalism and ability to connect with students made such a difference across Senior School. She supported students through goal setting, wellbeing check-ins and classroom engagement, and always brought a calm and caring presence. We’ll miss her so much and wish her all the best for what’s next.
This term we also witnessed one of the most memorable performances in KCHS history. Four of our students, Is, Elouise, Daniel and Jesse, took the stage at SongMakers Live, and they absolutely lit up the room. Their confidence, authenticity and stage presence were outstanding, and they represented our school with genuine pride and professionalism.
A huge thank you to Simon, whose commitment, belief and countless hours behind the scenes made this opportunity possible. Thank you also to Josh, Mia, Ava and Deb for supporting the students throughout rehearsals and on the day. It was a true highlight of the year and a moment we will be celebrating for a long time!
2025 7-10 Awards Day:
This term has been the perfect reminder of what makes KCHS so special, students who care deeply, staff who go above and beyond, and a community that always comes together to celebrate success. To our students, thank you for your effort, kindness and resilience throughout the year, and to our families and staff, thank you for your ongoing support. I am so proud of everything our Senior School has achieved in 2025.
Have a safe and happy holiday, and I’ll see you all next year. I’ll be off to Japan for Christmas and New Year which I’m so excited about, but I’m even more excited to come back and see everyone for another big year ahead!
Please note a key change for 2026: All senior students will now start at 8:55 am (the same time as the rest of the school) and finish their scheduled classes at 12:45 pm. Students are invited to stay at school for lunchtime to socialise with their peers.
