Bruce Cup Tennis Championship
I competed in the national tennis event called Bruce Cup Championship. The Bruce Cup is a national primary school tennis event where teams from every Australian state come together to compete. This year’s event was held in Ballarat, bringing together some of the best young tennis players from around the country. Only seven girls and boys were selected to represent our state. First you have to do the trials, which is a round robin of matches to be chosen. Coming first in my group, I secured a place in the top seven.
Throughout the week, we played several tough matches against different states. The competition was challenging but our team supported each other and stayed positive during close matches. Off the court we had fun exploring Ballarat, spending time together and meeting players from other states. An unforgettable moment was holding the Australian flag during the opening ceremony. I was truly honoured to be chosen to hold up the special flag. The Bruce Cup was an amazing experience which taught me resilience and sportsmanship on and off the court.

Region Hot Shots Tennis Finals
Nine EHPS students qualified to represent the Monash Waverley Division and our school at the Eastern Metropolitan Region Hot Shots Tennis finals on Friday 14 November at Yarra Valley Grammar in Ringwood.
On Friday 14 November we competed in the Eastern Metropolitan Region Hot Shots Tennis finals. Even though we came runners up in the Monash Waverley Division finals, we were lucky enough to be invited as another school couldn’t make it.
Our team consisted of Marcus, Timothy, Deric, Nick, Hayden, Jeremy, Nathan, Neil and Abhi. In our pool we played against Serpell Primary, Billanook Primary and Yarra Valley Grammar. Our first match was very close and we were six sets all, but lost by five games, the second match we won 11 sets to one set, and the third match we lost five sets to seven sets.
They announced the semifinals matches and we were so excited that we finished in the top two of our pool, as we won more sets. We had to play Mount View again, and we were a bit worried seeing we lost to them at Division. We lost by two sets and then went on to play Livingston Primary for third and fourth place. We lost another close match and came fourth out of eight schools.
Thank you to our families for driving and supporting us. Also, thanks to Ms Hocking for organising this great experience, encouraging us and coaching the team.

Prep to Year 2 Junior House Sports
Prep to Year 2 students are looking forward to their Junior House Sports on Thursday 11 December. Students will compete for their House (Boyd, Drysdale, Lindsay, Nolan) on Essex Heights Reserve (next door to the school) from 9am to 11am.
Please remember:
- Children are encouraged to wear their house colours, e.g. t-shirt and shorts/skort
- Runners

Families are welcome to spectate around the outside of the oval.
In the event of wet weather, the House Sports will be held in the Stadium gymnasium. Due to space restrictions in the gym, students will need to participate in two groups (group one would be Prep and half Year 1, and group 2 would be half Year 1 and Year 2).
