Mr Matt Elson

Hello Gympie East parents, carers and community,

I will be away all of next week on year 6 camp at Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast. Mr Chris Walters will be the Officer in Charge for the week, so you can see him if there are any concerns but I am still available over email on melso2@eq.edu.au if you need to contact me. Otherwise, speak to Leanne or Bridget in the Office and they will be able to help.

Our PBL focus for this week was 'be honest and kind'. Students have been learning lessons on this and have been putting it into practise. Our first three weeks have been very calm, which we are absolutely loving. Our PBL focus for next week will be 'use toilets at break'. As students get older, they learn the importance of being organised and part of that is to ensure they go to the toilet, get a drink and be ready for each session after a lunch break. It can also save considerable learning time if they do not need to go during a session. Ofcourse, if they absolutely need to go, then they can but it is important to learn to be organised.

Our Swimming Carnival is confirmed for Wednesday 10th December (Week 10) at Gympie State High School. This will be a great day as always, and will be a terrific way to finish our school year. Students will need to register in competitive or non-competitive races, only competitive races will go towards age champion. The non-competitive races can use a noodle or a kickboard during their races. They will choose during PE lessons with Mrs Yas Stephens.

Our Tuckshop is still struggling for volunteers. Please consider if there are any Wednesdays when you can give up some time to help. If not, we may need to put a message out Monday morning to cancel Tuckshop for that week if there are not enough volunteers.

Thanks

Mr Matt Elson
