Day for Daniel 2025 will be held on Friday, October 31. This national child safety event encourages everyone to wear red to support the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, educate children on safety, and raise funds to provide child safety resources for the community. The day focuses on educating children about personal safety, helping them to identify unsafe situations, and empowering them to react and report abuse.
During the week of Day for Daniel all year level will engage in age levelled learning, focusing on how to stay safe online and offline. The students will be asked to wear a touch of red on Friday 31 October in memory of Daniel Morcombe and regonise the importance of safety.
Engaging in a this day allows St John's to comply with The Child Safe Standards:
•child empowerment and participation to ensure that ‘children, young people and students are empowered about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously’ (Child Safe Standard 3)
•diversity and equity for vulnerable students, which will ensure that ‘equity is upheld, and diverse needs respected in policy and practice’ (Child Safe Standard 5)
•'safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children, young people and students to be harmed’ in physical or online environments (Child Safe Standard 9).

This is a special offer to partner school's that have completed the Road to Respect program, I recommend getting in sooner rather than later in case they sell out!
Our Year 3/4 students who have recently completed the Road to Respect program were invited to create posters that reflect their learnings from the program, (drawings, colour, key words encouraged). The club is displaying these posters as large artworks at the game – so their art will be on display! Students will be given opportunity as a school representative to be in the Guard of Honour!
This week in our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) lesson students have been learning about the Sun Safety Routine. As we enter into the warmer months students are learning about their responsibility to keep Sun Safe from September - April. This routine supports the students in understanding the behaviour expection on our school Behaviour Matrix: I am SunSmart. Please ensure your child has their own sunscreen at school (roll-on is preferred) and is able to apply it independently. You may wish to practise this at home. We encourage the students to review this routine with their families to ensure all students are SunSmart.
Congratulations to these students who were acknowledged for showing our PBL Value of Respect: I wait for my turn to speak.
