From the Principal Team

We’d like to wish all our Year 12 students the very best as they begin their final exams - study hard and do your best, we’re all behind you! Congratulations to our VCE VM students who have now completed their studies - an incredible achievement. We’re proud of your efforts and dedication throughout the year. We look forward to celebrating with all of our Year 12s and their families at the Valedictory Evening on 20th November.

We are pleased to announce that we have appointed Kuga Energy to supply and install a 99.5kwh solar system on the main building. A working party within school council investigated the viability of solar panels and followed the DE procurement process.  We are using the Building Fund to pay for this project, so thank you to the community for your contributions. Thanks to Bruce, Issy, Simon, Brendon, and Gabrielle for their work in bringing this project to fruition. This project is a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. By harnessing renewable energy, the school will not only reduce its reliance on fossil fuels but also cut electricity costs in the long term. The solar installation reflects our broader goal of embedding environmental responsibility into school operations and educating our students about the importance of sustainable practices. We will keep you updated with the timeline and the progress.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to introduce a new student leadership role - Environmental Captain. This position will play a key role in shaping and supporting our sustainability initiatives across the school. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students passionate about the environment to make a real impact. I’d love to hear from any students who are interested in this role or have ideas to contribute - please come and have a chat!

It’s pleasing to see a noticeable reduction in the number of students arriving late to school, as well as an improvement in uniform compliance - particularly with fewer hoodies being worn. These positive changes contribute to a more respectful and focused school environment. Keep up the great work, and thank you to everyone who is supporting these expectations.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving teaching and learning, teachers are continuing to focus on the explicit teaching of learning intentions and success criteria as their Professional Learning focus. This work aligns with the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, which supports greater clarity and consistency in classroom practice across the state.

On our upcoming Curriculum Day  Cup Eve 3rd November (student-free day), staff will dedicate time to updating our curriculum documentation in line with the new Victorian Curriculum 2.0. This important work ensures that our teaching programs remain current, aligned with state expectations, and responsive to the needs of our students.

Regards,

Transition to Compass

Late last term, we advised all families that we are moving from the Xuno school management system to Compass. This change is part of our ongoing commitment to provide families with the best possible tools for communication, engagement and support.

Parents and guardians should be aware of our implementation timeline:

Week 4 or 5 of Term 4 (27th Oct – 7th Nov)

Parents will receive details of how to log in to Compass, both via a computer and the Compass phone app.

Parents will also receive links to Compass support documentation to assist them in navigating the portal.

Students will receive details of how to log into Compass. Support will be provided at school.

Monday 10th November (Monday of Week 6) – end of 2025 school year

During this time period, Compass will be fully live and operational for the purpose of

  • Roll marking
  • Attendance tracking
  • Some events (excursions and camps for late 2025, and 2026)

All teachers will be marking rolls via Compass, rather than Xuno.

Parents will need to log any student absences via Compass, rather than Xuno.

Xuno will remain operational and accessible by parents during this period, for the purpose of

  • Progress reports
  • Semester reports
  • Assessment task results
  • Xuno messages

Beginning of 2026 school year

Full implementation of Compass for all operational and assessment practices.

We appreciate that navigating two platforms for the last few weeks of 2025 will present some challenges. However, this transition period is critical for us to ensure we are set up for success in 2026 with Compass. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we make this transition.

Curriculum Day – Monday 3rd November

A friendly reminder that Monday 3rd November is a student free day. Our staff will be participating in professional development related to the implementation of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. Year 12 students completing Unit 3 & 4 VCAA exams should attend school.

Celebrating Diwali

On Monday 20th October, our BOCI ( Building Our Community and Identity)  committee celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights. Students participated in designing a Rangoli or Kolam  at the student main entrance. Rangoli are drawn in front of houses during Diwali to bring luck, success and prosperity and to welcome light in the home. The BOCI committee wishes all families who have celebrated Diwali a Happy Diwali and Happy Deepavali!
