Celebrating Creativity and Achievement in Year 12 Visual Communication Design
This year’s Year 12 Visual Communication Design exhibition (Monday 13th to Friday 20th October 2025) showcased not only the outstanding creativity of our students, but also their hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Throughout the year, each student has navigated the design process – researching, developing, testing, and refining ideas – to produce design solutions that are both thoughtful and diverse.
What was on display represented far more than technical skill. It reflected growth, problem-solving, and the courage to take creative risks.
The college also extends its sincere appreciation to Deans Art, who have generously sponsored our Visual Arts students from Years 7 to 12 in both Art and Visual Communication Design for many years. We are grateful for their continued support in recognising student excellence.
At the exhibition opening, the 2025 Year 12 VCD Deans Art award was presented to Ema Chadwick, who has consistently demonstrated exceptional creativity, commitment, and design thinking – producing work of the highest standard that truly embodies the spirit of Visual Communication Design.

Year 7 Name in Perspective
Students were required to draw their first name using one-point perspective. Coloured pencils were used to tonally render the form. Gaining inspiration from examples of decorative patterns, students applied their own pattern to the front of the name.
Year 8 Still Life
Students learnt how to draw from observation focusing on contour lines. They then applied complex patterns using a limit of two colours plus black.
Year 9 Photorealism
The Year 9 Art students have explored the concept of photorealism using graphite pencils. This task focused on developing each student’s skills in manipulating tone, proportion and scale. The students applied the ‘Grid Transfer’ technique to masterfully render a photograph into a pencil drawing.
