Make Some Noise — Learn an Instrument! 🎸🥁🎶
Ever dreamed of playing your favourite song instead of just listening to it? Learning a musical instrument isn’t just cool — it’s one of the best things you can do for your brain, your confidence, and your vibe.
When you play, you’re not just hitting notes — you’re building focus, creativity and discipline. You’ll get better at problem-solving, boost your memory, and maybe even ace your other subjects along the way! Plus, there’s no better feeling than nailing a song you’ve been practising for weeks or performing with your friends and feeling the crowd buzz!
Music’s also an instant mood-booster. It helps you de-stress, express yourself, and connect with people who share your passion. Whatever genre you’re into, there’s an instrument that fits your style.
If you’ve never learned before, just remember that everyone starts somewhere! So have a go, make mistakes, make noise, and keep trying. You’ll be amazed how quickly the small wins add up! And if you’re already a budding musician and want some extra help to push yourself to that next level, music lessons are the perfect way to level up your skills.
Through lessons, you’ll get personalised feedback, learn new techniques, and discover fresh ways to express your sound. Whether it’s mastering tricky chords, improving your timing, or exploring songwriting, lessons can help you break through plateaus and keep your passion growing.
Having a mentor or teacher who understands your goals can make all the difference — they’ll challenge you, inspire you, and cheer you on every step of the way. With the right guidance, practice sessions feel more purposeful, progress comes faster, and you’ll find yourself playing with more confidence and creativity than ever before.
If you are interested in learning an instrument through GEC in 2026, please come and chat to Ms Hunt in the Performing Arts Office (through Room 1). You are welcome to sign up for a trial lesson with any of our wonderful instrumental teachers and see which instrument inspires your passion!
Instrumental music lesson sign up sheets can be found through the school website or please enquire at the front office or the Performing Arts office. Or come along to Music Club on Thursday lunchtimes and join the fun!
So go for it. Learn an instrument. Make music. Make memories. You might just find your new favourite part of yourself!

Coming in 2026: Oliver! JR
Get ready to “Consider Yourself” part of something special — next year our school will bring to life the timeless classic Oliver! JR, a musical full of heart, humour, and unforgettable songs!
Based on Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, this lively production follows young Oliver as he escapes the harsh life of the workhouse and finds adventure — and a few misadventures — on the streets of London. From meeting the cheeky Artful Dodger and the mysterious Fagin to discovering where he truly belongs, Oliver! JR is packed with energy, emotion, and songs you’ll be humming for weeks.
Auditions for principal roles will be held early next year in Week 4 of Term 1. Keep an eye out for details — we can’t wait to see our talented students bring this beloved story to the stage!
