RoboCup National Competition

We challenged the best at the National RoboCup Junior Competition in Canberra

Our enthusiastic robotics team proudly represented the school at this year’s National RoboCup Competition in Canberra, showcasing their innovation, teamwork, and coding expertise on a national stage. The event brought together some of the brightest young minds from across the country, all eager to test their robots in a series of technical and creative challenges. This is the biggest event ever, with 757 competitors divide into 279 teams.

After months of preparation, countless hours of coding, and fine-tuning their robot’s design, our students competed in multiple rounds that tested their ability to solve real-world problems through robotics. We competed in three different events:  Line Rescue, Maze Rescue, and Robot Soccer.

Beyond the competition results, the experience offered students the chance to develop skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and resilience under pressure. It was also a valuable opportunity to connect with other schools and industry mentors, gaining inspiration for future STEM pathways. This is the first time in the school's history that we were able to field the girls' teams at the National level.

The school community is incredibly proud of the team’s hard work and sportsmanship throughout the event. Congratulations to our seventeen robotics programmers for their endeavour and for representing our school with such enthusiasm and innovation!

While the students were busy competing, the teachers offered their services to this exciting event. Qi Sun was the Line Rescue judge, and Osi officiated Robot Soccer matches.

Our participation would not have been possible without the hard work of Qi Sun, who successfully applied for the funding and organised the trip. Her hard work is highly commended. Special thanks to David Ebert, our robotics mentor, who runs the robotics club every Wednesday after school. Last but not least, the parents who have supported their children throughout the year.

What did our students think about the competition?

RoboCup and our trip to Canberra were definitely one of the highlights of 2025, and something that we're all proud of and are super grateful for being able to experience. An amazing opportunity to connect with people from all over Australia who share the same interests as us.

The trip to Canberra for the competition was enjoyable, and I enjoyed working on my robot. and I wish to compete again next year.

The Canberra RoboCup trip was an amazing opportunity. My group competed in the Rescue Line event, and it was great to see how every team had its own unique code and strategies for the courses. I was amazed by how many people showed up and all the different competition categories there were. Even though we didn’t win, the experience was indeed rewarding!

The trip to Canberra and RoboCup was an incredible experience. My team competed in Rescue Line, and we met so many cool people. The atmosphere was awesome, and I had a close encounter with a robot dog from the event sponsor.
