Cultural Immersion

Yaama ngindaay-uu,

Wow, last term was a blast. The circus was the perfect way to end the term. I am so very proud of how you all performed. Mrs Tighe visited to talk about the Wii Gaay project Chastity has been doing, which is recording interviews with her Elders and cut away scenes. Later this term Chastity will attend another learning hub to edit and present the work she has been doing. This term in class we will be learning the acknowledgement in Gamilaraay as a class with our year 6’s leading. This is a great opportunity for them to share the language they have learnt so that it stays alive at this school always. Australia’s Aboriginal culture has an amazing oral history and this is important to teach our students this so it holds value to them. I’m so excited to get class going this term. I hope to share lots of language with the students over the next 10 weeks.
