Dear Families,
As has become the norm for our learners, we have settled back into Term 4 efficiently and with enthusiasm. The children have also managed the Daylight Savings changes well.
This is a SunSmart Term, and all children must wear a broad-brimmed hat during play and sporting activities. Caps are not permitted. If your child does not have a broad-brimmed hat, they will miss out on outdoor activities and playtime. The hat does not need to be school-branded.
Key Dates and Events – Term 4 (11 Weeks)
Please mark these important dates in your diaries:
• Year 3 Day Camp – took place today
• Healthy Harold – commences next week for all year levels
• Year 2 Day Camp – Thursday, 16 October

E-Safety – Keeping Children Safe Online
There has been much discussion in the media recently about protecting children and young people online. Please visit the Wellbeing page in our Newsletter for information and resources to help keep your child safe in the digital world.
2026 Enrolments
We are now planning for 2026.If you know your family will be leaving the school at the end of this year, please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan accurately.
For families with a Prep child starting in 2026, please ensure you have submitted an enrolment form. In the past, we have had current families assume we know their next child will be attending; however, paperwork is still required.
Behaviour and Child Safety
Keelonith Primary School is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe. We have zero tolerance for child abuse and are dedicated to protecting children from harm.
Our comprehensive Child Safety Framework outlines the policies, codes, and procedures that support student safety and wellbeing, including:
• Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
• Child Safety Code of Conduct
• Child Safety Responding and Reporting Obligations Policy and Procedure
• Complaints Policy
• Student Wellbeing and Engagement Policy
• Bullying Prevention Policy
• Volunteers Policy
• Visitors Policy
• Digital Learning Policy
• Yard Duty and Supervision Policy
All policies are available on our website: keelonithps.vic.edu.au
Respectful Behaviours Within Our School Community
At KPS, we all have a role in upholding our shared values of respect, kindness, and collaboration.
If you have a concern regarding your child, please bring it directly to your child’s classroom teacher in the first instance. Our teachers are best placed to listen, provide context, and work with you towards a resolution.
To protect the wellbeing and privacy of all students, parents must not approach other students or families about school-related concerns. Likewise, please refrain from discussing other students or families within the community. Such conversations can unintentionally cause harm, spread misinformation, or breach privacy.
By following these expectations, we ensure that every child feels safe, respected, and supported, and that our school remains a positive environment for all. Your partnership in this is vital to our community spirit and student success.
Class Placements for 2026
As we begin forming classes for next year, parents and caregivers are invited to share any special considerations for their child’s class placement.
Requests should be emailed to the school office at keelonith.ps@education.vic.gov.au by Tuesday, 4 November, addressed to me.
Requests may relate to friendship dynamics, learning needs, or family circumstances, but please note that requests for specific teachers cannot be accommodated. If you have placed a request in previous years and it is still valid please resubmit, as the dynamics of relationships do change over time.
Collecting Children During the Day
If you need to collect your child early, please notify the office in advance so we can have them ready for you. Schools are busy places, and it can take time to locate students, particularly if they are in specialist classes or other learning areas.
To minimise disruptions, please avoid collections during:
• Play 1: 12:10 pm – 12:50 pm
• Play 2: 1:50 pm – 2:30 pm
During these times, children may not hear PA announcements, and buildings are locked for safety, making it difficult to collect belongings.
This week, many families participated in Student Support Group (SSG) meetings. We thank you for taking the time to work with us in supporting your child’s growth and in developing their Individual Education Plans.
Happy Learning,
Loren Peavey
