Developing Motor Skills

Motor skills are important for young children. These skills consist of fine motor skills (Smaller movement which use the smaller muscles in the hands) and gross motor skills (larger movements which use larger muscles).  At kindergarten the program supports all children in their development of these motor skills through a variety of play based experiences both indoors and outdoors.  Examples of these are drawing, peg boards, Lego and climbing, running and jumping.

We have attached an article about the children's milestones in the development of fine and gross motor skills for children aged 3-5. This article was written by Monash Link and provides information of when additional support may be required who can provide this support.
