What's Happening in Grade 5?

English: This term it’s all about arguing! We are learning to write discussion texts through debating issues from two sides: FOR and AGAINST. Students are building their knowledge of persuasive writing techniques, as they dive into different issues that get them excited.

Inquiry: We are enjoying diving into the world of economics and business this term - thinking about how we make decisions in a world with limited resources. Students are also having a health session once a week, helping build our knowledge of the changes that happen to our body with puberty and what resources can be helpful to support us through transitions.

Mathematics: We are continuing deepening our understanding of multiplication and division through our LAF group work. Students are enjoying the teamwork and problem solving and really deepening their skills. It’s great to see the amazing attitudes our Year 5s bring to these sessions. We have just started our learning into capacity and volume and have been doing some hands on learning outside exploring how much water different containers can hold.

Copperfield College Excursion: Last week we visited Copperfield College - an opportunity to experience what high school might feel like! We had a robotics workshop and did explosive experiments in a real science lab. It was awesome!!!
