Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

This edition of the newsletter begins with a huge congratulations to two students who recently competed at the Divisional Athletics Championships - Rhyder Griffiths and Katie Darcy.

Rhyder did an amazing job in the high jump placing a wonderful 7th place, which for such a high-level meet is a huge accomplishment. Katie also competed in the high jump and won her event and now goes on the state championships which is amazing. A huge congratulations to both students for doing so well, and good luck to Katie in her upcoming meet. We wish you all the very best.

Today, students were able to wear red in recognition of it being Day for Daniel. Many of you will know the tragic circumstances that led to Daniel Morcombe's passing. Whilst this is not conveyed to students, what is discussed is the need to know who our safety contacts are in our lives such as parents, teachers and family members.

But also who are community members we can go to in times of need - police, firefighters, ambulance officers, nurses, doctors, pharmacists and even shopping centre staff and security if they are lost. These are very important messages that the Victoria Police helped us get across to students at assembly, and were followed up in classrooms. Maybe you could have these discussions also so the message is repeated and consistent.

Bike education commenced last week with our grade four and five students. Thank you to those families who sent their children to school on their bike and with their helmet. It meant the small number of loan bikes available could go to those who do not have one. We would love to see the bike racks full every day, so please feel free to have your children in grades four or five continue to ride to school after the program has finished.

As mentioned in lour last newsletter, our process for book box payments and orders for 2026 has changed. Details of the change are in the school council section of this newsletter. Please read it and remember the December 7 cut off for orders.

Our prep to grade two camping program is fast approaching. This is where prep students come to school in their PJs and have breakfast here and get changed. Our grade one students stay late here at school and our grade two students’ sleepover. These are important milestones for the grade three-four camp where students sleep away from home for two nights. It is going to be a great event so please be sure to have your child included should that suit your family.

And of course, our disco is also fast approaching. This year the theme is a party theme, so students should dress to impress with their best party clothes, or if they are still keen on Halloween those costumes would be great also. I'll have my dancing shoes on, and those who saw my efforts at production know that I will need quite a few lessons between now and then.

Finally, a reminder that this Friday October 31st and Monday November 3rd are both pupil free days. TheirCare will be available on both days, however students will not be required at school. With the Cup Day holiday on Tuesday November 4th, students will have a five-day break from school. Please mark these dates in your diary.

Kind Regards,
