2024 Permissions & Agreements - Compass

Each year the school must obtain certain permissions from parents (and/or students) regarding particular areas of school life.

These include;

  •  local excursion permission (e.g. walks to the local park)
  •  movie watching
  • headlice checks
  • ICT Code of Conduct and Student phone use
  • Photography, filming & recoding of students. (previously called media permission)

Previously these would have been completed by parents upon enrolment, however they must been obtained annually.

Parents and carers can now complete these permissions and agreements electronically via the Course Confirmation & Payments section on your Compass portal.

Please complete these before the commencement of the 2024 school year.

For copies of our school policies, please visit our school website.

Notifying Student Absences

Absent all day?

Parents can enter approval directly into compass by 9:15am (this can also be done anytime in advance) OR phone the school office on 03 9391 8942 and leave a message.

*Automated text messages are sent daily to both parents of all students who have been marked absent without parent approval.

Covid Absences

If your child is unable to attend school due to Covid, please inform the office in writing as soon as possible so the correct attendance can be recorded. The school must record these absences differently.

Arriving late?

When you arrive at school, please sign your child IN at the school office on the Compass Kiosk. Students then take the late slip to their class teacher.

Please note: This can not be done in advance or from the parent portal.

Leaving early?

When possible, please call 5-10 minutes prior to picking up your child to ensure they are ready and waiting in the office. Parent/Carers are asked not to go to the classrooms.

When you arrive at school, please sign your child OUT at the school office on the Compass Kiosk.

Please note: This can not be done in advance or from the parent portal.

Parent Contact Details

Have your contact details changed? If so please let the office know via email so we can update our records. This includes changes to emergency contacts, additional numbers to call if needed and any changes to employment details.

Have your family circumstances changed?

At Newport Lakes Primary School, we understand that over the course of the school year some family circumstances may have changed.

It is a Department of Education requirement that families notify the School if your living arrangements have changed. Forms to create separate household accounts are available below, upon request from the office or you can email the school.

Once our records have been updated, each household will then be entered separate on our system. Families in Household B will then receive their own unique Compass login to manage absences, receive news and notifications from the School, approve and pay for events, pay student fees and charges etc.
