Term 1 2024

The start of the new school year began with immense positivity and energy. Our staff returned from the summer break feeling refreshed and have immersed themselves in professional learning, as we continue to build a strong culture of ongoing improvement. Our focus for this year is to ensure every teacher is able to effectively use data and evidence to deeply understand the learning needs of every student and teach them accordingly. We will also be working with our students this year in building greater student agency in the classroom, which will result in students actively taking responsibility for their own learning.

Our students returned with a renewed focus on learning and our Year 12 students have shown impressive commitment and dedication to their studies in their final year of schooling. The new Supported Study Hall, which provides our Year 12 students with targeted individual support by VCE teachers during their study periods, has had an immediate positive impact and is allowing our Year 12 students to effectively study and prepare for assessments, during the school day.

It has been a joy to welcome our new Year 7 students and their families to Reservoir High School. They have very quickly become connected to the staff and other students at our school. The Year 7 Camp held in week 3 was a fantastic opportunity for our year 7s to make friends across the year level, engage with their teachers in outdoor activities and games and most importantly, have fun. It was a pleasure for me to get to know each student and watch as they challenged themselves on the high ropes course and rock climbing wall. I am looking forward to meeting all our new families at the upcoming Year 7 BBQ.

The Fair Go Sports Carnival which took place last Friday was a true celebration of everything that makes Reservoir High School an inclusive, compassionate and supportive community.  Our students who competed in the different events demonstrated athletic skill and strength and many others cheered and supported the competitors. The staff who competed in the Relay Race were very impressive, coming first by a significant margin. Well done to Ms French, Mr Lewis, Ms Hudson and Mr Rubira.

Our whole-school Badges Assembly is taking place in the second last week of this term and is an opportunity for us to celebrate student achievement and leadership. Parents of the students selected for Leadership positions have been invited, as have our VCE High-Achievers from last year. It will be a wonderful way to finish up the term, one that has been characterised by excellence.

Kind regards,
