DEBATING Team

On the Monday the 26th of February, the Reservoir High School debating team consisting of Mia Amidzic (First Speaker), Jake Chen (Second Speaker) and Vivien Tang (Third Speaker) participated in the first round of the DAV debating competition against Eltham College of Education. 

The topic for the round was that "short-stay rental platforms (e.g. Airbnb, Stayz) have done more harm than good", with us as the negative team. At first, the team was apprehensive about our stance on the topic, originally being quite concerned about our prospects of winning. Yet through hard work and  encouragement from our debating coordinator Ms Gomez, we were able to walk into the debate with an unexpected optimism. In return, our efforts and faith were rewarded after the collective effort from all our team members led to victory. 

The team looks forward to the next debate in the season, and hopes to bring back more results to make our school proud.
