Dear Parents

Aspiration, Belonging and Connection are three themes which drive our Strategic Intent for 2024 and beyond.  There is a palpable and renewed energy and optimism stemming from the drivers that support these themes.

Resetting a sense of honour in our School should reflect all that we do.  Notably, our students thoroughly understand from last year, that they are part of forty years of history, and we must never lose sight of what has gone before us whilst ensuring that we are a School which meets the needs of young people in 2024 and beyond.

Our Whole School Leadership Induction Assembly was a demonstration that not only our formal leaders, but all students are leading with passion in favour of their School.

New House Banners in our brand new Cafeteria are igniting the spirit of House competition with a range of activities that have been planned within our House system during the course of this year.

The inaugural Pursuit of Excellence Assembly which supports our academic aspiration, was widely acclaimed by all students and staff present as we recognised the high achievers from the Class of 2023.  An inspirational speech was provided by last year’s Vice Captain and high performing student, Arthur Demetriou.

At Oakleigh Grammar, we are authentic in our endeavours to educate the whole person and our educational programs are specifically chosen to support our students reaching both their academic and personal character development potential.

The month of February has been an active month for interaction with our parent community following several information evenings in different sections of the School.  I thank all parents for attending and supporting these important information sharing opportunities.  I also acknowledge the dedication of our staff in preparing and participating in these evenings.

I had the privilege of spending some time at Camp with both Year 11 and 12 students and was highly impressed with their overall maturity and respect for one another.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time chatting with our Year 12 students over morning tea and in particular, discussing their ambitions and aspirations for the future.

Greek Independence Day March – Sunday 14 April

The Greek Independence Day March which is an important religious and cultural event for our School and Community, will be held on the weekend prior to the commencement of term two this year.  Given that there is a holiday period prior to the Parade, it is important that all families are duly aware of the timing of this event.

Oakleigh Grammar is regarded as the shining beacon within the Greek Orthodox Community and we look forward to demonstrating our sense of honour and pride in our School as we march around Lakeside Stadium on this day.  Further information will be provided to you later this month.

Staff News

I wish to extend gratitude to the following staff for their important contribution to Oakleigh Grammar, who will be leaving us at the end of this term:  Ms Nadia Feletti, Head of Marketing; Ms Sophie James, Head of Learning Enhancement; Ms Maeve Mulpeter, Middle School Mathematics Teacher.
