Performing Arts News

Welcome to Performing Arts for 2024. Students have made a great start to the year as they continue to work on their confidence and musical skills. 

Students in Foundation have been singing simple songs and are beginning to learn our National Anthem ‘Advance Australia Fair’. A particular favourite for the Foundation students has been singing and dancing to the song Sleeping Bunnies! | Little Baby Bum - New Nursery Rhymes for Kids. 

Students in Year 1/2 have been learning the traditional Australia Bush dance ‘The Heel and Toe Polka’. Students have to focus, work well with their partner and move to the beat. It has been wonderful to see students who are typically shy, smiling and dancing with their partners.

Students in Years 3-6 have been learning to play the Xylophone and Glockenspiels. 

The 3/4 students have been playing along the Blues in C and follow along to the beat. The 5/6 students are learning to play basic ‘Borduns’ and to improvise using the C pentatonic scale. They have also been working as self-directed learners following Seesaw lessons on the piano keyboard or drums.
