Performing Arts

A new exciting year of Performing Arts has begun at Hamlyn Views. We have two Performing Arts teachers in 2024; Annie Malesic and Jacqui Chalmers. We also welcome, Roni Shewan a music teaching artist from the Song Room. Roni is at Hamlyn Views School, on Mondays in 2024, working together with our Music therapist and Performing Arts teachers, incorporating Music and Arts education in our school curriculum and events.

In Term 1, we are beginning to settle into the Performing Arts classroom and learning our class routine. We have the opportunity to engage in instrumental play, songs, dance and movement.

In Term 1, we are preparing for a whole school celebration, called Harmony Day, on Thursday March 21st. We have been learning about greetings in other languages, in a song called 'Jambo' and participating in local indigenous songs such as 'Koling Wada-Ngal', meaning 'Let's walk together'. We have also been learning about circle dancing, where we are working together with our classmates.

We are looking forward to an exciting year in the Performing Arts.
