Enrolling in Foundation (Prep)

This page contains information for parents and carers on when and how to enrol their child in 2025 Foundation (Prep) at Saltwater P-9 College. 

Steps to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for the 2025 school year

To start primary school in 2025, your child will need to turn 5 years old by 30 April 2025. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.

 

If your child is starting Foundation (Prep) in 2025, you will be able to apply to enrol your child in our school from the start of Term 2, 2024 (Monday 15 April 2024).

 

2025 Prep Enrolment Timeline

The Prep enrolment timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Prep at a Victorian government school, including our school, Saltwater P-9 College. The  timeline applies for children starting Prep in 2025.

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2025 at Saltwater P-9 College from 15 April 2024 if you are located and residing in our school zone. To determine eligibility, visit School zones.

 

What you need to do:

  1. Contact our school to book a school tour or to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process. Our enrolment tours will be held on Friday mornings from 9.00am to 9.50am in Term 2, beginning Friday 26 April 2024.
  2. Download the Prep enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep)
  3. Submit an enrolment application for Prep by Friday 26 July 2024 from our school website.
  4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 9 August 2024. If you receive an offer of placement, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 23 August 2024.
  5. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2024.
  6. Your child will start Prep from February 2025.

Enrolment applications submitted after 26 July 2024 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.
