Year Seven

Science

As we progress through the academic year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the exciting and enriching science lessons that our Year Seven students have been engaging with, particularly in the realm of physics.

From the gentle push of a breeze to the mighty pull of gravity, our students have embarked on an exploration of the forces that shape our universe. Through hands-on experiments and lively discussions, they've explored contact and non-contact forces, discovering how these invisible agents govern the motion of objects around us.

Building upon their understanding of forces, our students have immersed themselves in Sir Isaac Newton's laws of motion. They've grasped the concepts of inertia, acceleration, and action-reaction pairs, applying these principles to various real-world scenarios and classroom experiments.

In the coming weeks, our exploration of physics will continue with a focus on friction and its impact on motion. Students will dive into the intricacies of frictional forces, exploring how they influence the movement of objects across different surfaces. Furthermore, we'll delve into the relationship between speed and force, examining how force multipliers come into play in various scenarios.

We're incredibly proud of the dedication and enthusiasm our Year Seven students have shown in their pursuit of scientific knowledge.

English

In Year Seven English, our classroom has been bustling with activity as we balance two main priorities: preparing for the upcoming NAPLAN assessments and delving into our mentor text, "The Simple Gift." As we edge closer to the assessments, we've been diligently practicing with test formats to ensure our students feel confident and prepared. At the same time, we've dived into creative writing, utilising various prompts and exercises to refine our narrative and persuasive skills.

The highlight of our term has undoubtedly been the study of "The Simple Gift," which has provided a rich platform for discussions centre around the theme of belonging. This theme seamlessly aligns with our humanities unit, where we delve into different aspects of identity and culture.

As we eagerly anticipate the tail-end of the term, we're excited to wrap up our exploration of "The Simple Gift" and prepare for a new unit of study in Term Two. But before we do, take a moment to appreciate some of the amazing persuasive writing pieces crafted by our talented Year Seven students!
