Year 6 Camp

Students from Year 6 attended Camp Manyung from Monday 26th February until Wednesday 28th February. Camp Manyung was a challenge by choice camp where students were able to test their resilience and challenge their comfort zones in both land and water activities. Students participated in a range of activities including Giant Swing, TreeTop Zip Lining, Bush Cooking, Canoeing and Snorkeling.

Kaitlyn said “The best activity was probably snorkeling. I enjoyed snorkeling because I got to see all the marine creatures and the fish! I really enjoyed it and in our group we found starfish, sea urchins and a little jellyfish. It was really cool to see all the different species of sea creatures and to be able to have a fun time together with my group.”

Other students enjoyed the night activities where they were able to go down to the beach and spend some time with their peers. “The best part about camp for me was the beach night walk. This was probably my favourite activity as the sunset turned so pretty on us and it was a mixture of colours. We got some great photos. We threw rocks into the ocean with friends and compared whose rocks went the furthest. I found this experience really peaceful and calm.” (Vinuli)

Camp was a great opportunity for all students to be involved in activities no matter their ability. It was also a great chance for staff to build positive relationships with students and start the year off on a really positive note. “Camp was a really fun time for me, just watching everyone and having some good giggles. I especially loved making some friendship bracelets with Miss Gallagher and some other students.” (Nevaeh)

Well done to all students for their effort and behaviour during camp. Massive thanks also to all the staff that attended the camp and made this a really memorable experience for all who attended.

Year 9 Retreat

The Year 9's were able to start this year with a bang! Towards the start of the term, the Year 9 cohort had the opportunity to go to Retreat Day. This was a great way for us to practice bonding, friendship and teamwork through a variety of fun games and activities.

We arrived at school nice and early in the morning and headed up to Wonga Park. From calm to messy tasks we were all able to have lots of fun and take something away from this exciting day! Some of the activities that we got to participate in included a mud run which the majority of us walked out looking a lot different to what we did walking in!

We also had a fun activity of making bracelets with our class. We got to have fun chatting and getting to know our class whilst making cute bracelets for us to wear and have as a keepsake item. A fan favorite was definitely being able to tie dye a choice of white item and also playing a heated match of volleyball. This day provided us the opportunity to learn more about our peers and ways/strategies to see to our problems.

Through these activities, we were able to create strong relationships with our class and year level, funny memories, teamwork and many lifelong skills! We also captured a few photos for us to remember this day by! Overall we had a great time, and made us all excited for what's to come!
