APS -Community Events/Fundraising
Reminder
THE 2024 APS AUTUMN FAIR
Save the date: Saturday, 4 May 2024, from 2PM
The School Fair is the most significant fundraising and community event in the APS calendar, and we require the support of the whole APS community for it to succeed.
The funds from the fair go directly to the school and are used towards things like upgrading the playgrounds and buying new sports equipment and books for the library - generally things that make APS a great place for our kids.
There are lots of ways to contribute to the Fair:
- Joining the sub-committee to participate in the event planning and delivery.
- Managing a Stall or Activity Station.
- Donating items for the mystery bags, "trashless" treasure, clothing, or book stalls.
- Donating our sourcing an awesome Silent Auction prize.
- Being part of the set-up or pack-up crew.
- Volunteering on the day.
- Making jams, preserves, or chutneys.
- Baking a cake, cupcake, slice, cookies or treats.
WHAT WE NEED NOW
Stall Managers
We are very lucky to have a dedicated group of parents who have looked after activities for many years, and for 2024, we are saying thanks and goodbye to:
Todd Perry, Fiona Everingham, Nikki Greenberg, Marlo Evans, Tammy Quinn and Tiffany Lane!
THANKS LEGENDS! Steph and Dan Mote also handed over the Silent Auction reins (but are still on the sub-committee).
This means that we need parent volunteers to take on the pre-event management of the following stalls and activities:
Silent Auction: This is the big one! The Silent Auction is the biggest fundraising activity at the fair, and we need a few people to take over sourcing items and experiences and setting up the online auction platform. Rachel Mcconaghie has popped her hand up to help with this already - but she'll need support! If you can support this activity by donating or sourcing a great item or experience - please do! Think vintage wine, art, sports memorabilia, event tickets, restaurant vouchers, beauty vouchers, home decor items and more!
Catering: This includes managing the planning, ordering, and set-up and on-the-day coordination of the BBQ, Gourmet Rolls, soft drinks, and any food trucks.
Preserves Stall: This includes coordinating the making, sourcing, and labelling of all the preserves and the stall set-up and on-the-day coordination. This activity would work well with 2-3 people working to coordinate, as it is labour intensive.
Face painting / Crazy Hair: Pre-event planning and on-the-day management of the face painting and crazy hair activity. We have all the equipment and guides ready to go. This role suits someone with some artistic flair!
Frankentoys: This activity is designed to teach kids about sustainability and reusing old things to make new things. Kids have access to various old soft toys, cut them up, and sew them back together as something new. The role includes the set-up and on-the-day coordination of the stall – this role suits someone who can work a sewing needle!
Wash Against Waste/Sustainability: In line with the school’s commitment to sustainability, we are looking for a parent to take on sourcing and managing a Wash Against Waste station and coordinating the sustainability and waste management at the event.
HAVE AN IDEA FOR A NEW FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY?! We’d love to hear from you: alphingtonps.cef@gmail.com
Thanks,
The APS Events and Fundraising sub-committee
