Well Being Hub #2

Wellbeing Support Over the Summer Holidays

The Guidance Team

Welcome to our final Mental Health and Wellbeing Guidance Officer Newsletter Article for this academic year. As we come to the end of another very busy term, we acknowledge that for some of our students and families there have been some significant challenges over the course of the year. The holiday period can be a time of joy and celebration for some, but for others, it can be stressful and isolating, even amplifying mental health challenges.

We hope that through the use of this article, our school website and School TV you are equipped with resources for all of your safeguarding and support needs over the school holidays.

At this time of year, we would like to remind you about the very informative Beyond Blue and headspace sites which provide a number of resources for parents and carers of younger students, although the advice they give can be relevant for any age group, there are some excellent articles on anxiety, resilience in children and the importance of boundaries.

The graphic below will also provide you with a number of valuable websites and phone numbers should there be a need for support over the summer holidays:

It is incredibly important that students continue to practice self-care over the summer holiday. Please encourage the young people in your care to do so with the below tips over the coming weeks

We can often find ourselves busy with plans but remember it's OK to pause, take time for yourself, see a movie, read a book relax and recharge.

Week 4 Physical Activity

Keeping active can positively impact your mood and wellbeing. Do it your way; dance, walk, go to the gym or play a sport.

Week 5 Creativity

Finding ways to be creative can be an opportunity to express yourself and focus on the present moment. This could be through acting, cooking, drawing or writing.
