CYOD UPDATE
On behalf of the IT/CYOD team we’d like to thank you for your patience and respect whilst we attended to your various IT enquiries this year. It has been a very busy year with plenty of change so we thank you for your understanding.
New Parents Wanting To Join CYOD
For those parents that haven’t organised a device for 2024 and wish to be a part of the CYOD program, please reach out to cyod@thegapshs.eq.edu.au.
Parents of Converted CYODs
For parents of students that are using a freshly converted CYOD laptop, just a few reminders that we have been explaining to the students as they’ve collected their devices:
- When setting up the device for the first time, please use a personal Microsoft account not an EQ account
- Microsoft Windows will not need to be purchased as a product activation key is attached to each devices motherboard
- If however there is an activation request in the bottom right hand side of the screen after the device is setup, please reach out to cyod@thegapshs.eq.edu.au
- All Office 365 applications can be downloaded and installed for free through portal.office.com and when logging in using the student Education Queensland account.
- More information about using BYOD laptops can be found here: https://thegapshs.eq.edu.au/extra-curricular/computer-and-internet/bring-your-own-device-b-y-o-d
Students Waiting For Devices To Be Repaired
For those that are still waiting on their devices to be repaired:
- Repair timelines are dependent on part availability and recently Acer has had shortages of some crucial parts, especially for the SP314 model (Silver laptop)
- Repairs will take place over the holiday period and we are looking clear as much of the backlog as possible in time for the 22nd of January
- If you would like an update as to where your device is at in the repair queue, please contact cyod@thegapshs.eq.edu for more information
The IT/CYOD team will be away and unavailable to assist with your enquiries from the 14th December - 15th January 2024.
RAISE MENTORING
Raise Youth Mentoring Programs have partnered with The Gap SHS to create a positive impact on the lives of young people by providing guidance, support and hope.
By becoming a volunteer mentor, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of the next generation, equipping them with the tools to help them navigate life, such as how to ask for help, grow confidence and set goals. Volunteering as a mentor with Raise offers a unique opportunity to share your knowledge, experiences, and skills with young people who need a positive, neutral role model. By dedicating a couple of hours each week, you can be a source of inspiration, encouragement, and guidance.
If you're passionate about shaping the future and making a difference, Raise invites you to join as a volunteer mentor. All backgrounds and experiences are welcome; what matters most is your commitment to helping young individuals thrive.
