Week 8, Term 4

Physical Education

Prep PE

Students will participate in several collaborative games and activities, with the focus on revising their catching and ball striking ability. They will be encouraged to monitor their technique for both skills. 

 

Prep Sensory

In Sensory Gym this week, there will be a selection of activities and exercises aimed at boosting hand-eye coordination, balance, and core strength

 

Grade 1 and 2

This week will be an exciting session of collaborative games and activities, where we hone our catching and ball striking skills. Students will be encouraged to work together in a fun and collaborative manner.

 

Grade 3 and 4

This week, our hockey journey continues! We're diving into a modified game, focusing on key rules and skills. Students will be encouraged to keep their eyes on the ball when trapping and striking with the stick.

 

Grade 5 and 6

Our exploration of hockey will continue this week. We will discuss and practice key rules and strategies for successful team play, while continuing to refine the fundamental skills of hockey.

Science

All grades will be completing the same Science experiment over the next couple of weeks, looking at how plants grow. We will be noting observations at the beginning of each lesson before completing our next activity for the lesson.  

 

Science lesson – learning about acids and bases by creating a PH indicator using red cabbage and paper towel. 

Performing Arts

Students will be getting into the Christmas spirit this week as we shift our focus to preparing for the annual WPPS Christmas Carols! Students will continue to practice their songs, finalise choreography and begin practicing in our performance space on the Performing Arts Deck. Visual Arts

 

Prep

Students will be creating their Spring picture for the 2024 calendar they are putting together. They will learn to draw a tree trunk and branches with pastels, including smudging and layering of colours. Then they will use the end of a paintbrush to create cherry blossom flowers in pink and white.

 

Grade 1 and 2

Students will be completing a guided drawing of a Nutcracker over the next few weeks. This week they will begin using pencil, then trace over their lines with sharpie marker, focussing on shape and line.

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will be glazing their little penguin that they made from clay a few weeks ago, using realistic colours. They will also be finishing off their gingerbread house, adding ‘icing’ using white paint and adding lolly and decorative details. 

 

Grade 5 

Students will be making a Christmas decoration using round and long seed beads on a snowflake shaped wire, creating a radial design from the centre to the outside.

 

Grade 6

Students will be glazing their Grade 6 tile, adding the colours they chose in their initial design. They will also be finishing off their Graduation portraits including gelli printing the background and putting pattern details on their acetate portrait with paint pens.
