🏊🏼‍♀️ Swimming

Many thanks to all our families for your support of our swimming program! We are very proud of our wonderful grade one and two students and their behaviour at the pool and swimming efforts!

 

📚 Reading 

Students will be looking at a variety of texts and determining the "Author's Purpose." They will be discussing if the author has written the text to persuade, inform or entertain.

What can you do at home?

-Assist your child to read their take home book each night. 

-Read a variety of texts to your child

-Have your child retell the text

-Have your child determine what the Author's Purpose is.

 

🔡 Phonics 

This week we will be learning the 'air' sound (made by the graphemes 'air, are, ear, ere').

 

What you can do at home?

-What words can you find that have 'air' in your take home books or texts that you read?

 

📝 Writing 

Students will continue editing and publishing their narrative text, based on a known story. We will be completing reflection writing.

 

What can you do at home?

-Check your child is using the correct pencil grip (pointer finger on top).

-Practise writing sentences with a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and a full stop at the end.

-Unpack the stories you read with your child/ren to name the characters, setting, beginning, middle (problem) and end.

 

🔢  Maths 

Students are exploring division thinking through sharing, the use of repetitive subtraction and the creation of equal smaller groups. We are also looking at all aspects of measurement over the coming weeks, including length, mass, volume, area, capacity and time and students will participate in their final rotation.

 

What can you do at home? 

-Practice skip counting patterns backswards especially 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s
