Brookside P-9 College expects students to attend school every day, Every day counts - It’s not OK to be away. Having high attendance at school contributes to successful relationships between students and staff, it increases connectedness to school, and can lead to improved learning outcomes.

Reporting absences
If your child is absent from school, parents/carers must provide an explanation for their absence before 8.50am on the day or prior to the absence. Parents/carers can do this via the Compass Parent Portal or call the Absence Line. A Compass Guide for Parents and Families is attached below:

A free Compass App can also be downloaded on your mobile or tablet for quick and easy access to; add an attendance note, view notifications, events, etc.
Extended Absences
If your child is planning an extended absence of more than 10 days, parents/carers must complete an Extended Absence Form for approval by the Principal prior to the absence. Forms are located on Compass School Documentation or available from the office.
Early Departures
If a child is leaving school early, the parent/carers is required to come to the office to sign their child out via the office located in the main building, please ensure you pre-arrange any early departures by contacting the Attendance Office in advance to minimise disruption to your child & their class.
Late Arrivals
If your child arrives between 8:50am and 9:00am they are to head directly to their Homegroup and get their name marked on the roll. Any child arriving at school after 9:00am is required to sign in via the front office.
School starts at 8.50am – students should be at their Homegroup ready to start their day!
School finishes at 3:00pm
