Sydney Excursion

What a week we had! I am sure all of our Upper Division families are well aware of the fun and excitement we had in Sydney last week.  We certainly learnt a lot and enjoyed our time away. I sincerely thank Georgia Brown and Kirrily Hahn for assisting me in supervising the excursion.  You were just amazing.  I also thank Anne Miller for booking our venues and accommodation and for making sure everything was in order for us. Thanks also to the P&C for paying for our tickets to "Wicked - The Musical", the train tickets and opal card expenses.  A wonderful team effort! See more details in the "Whole School Activities" sec of this newsletter. Please also see information in this section about accessing photos from the excursion.

Lower Division Excursion Last Week

Thank you to Leah Miller who took our Lower Division students last week while we were in Sydney. This was a lot of work for Leah and we truly appreciate her help in making sure our students continued their week of learning.  We also thank Mrs Annette Brown for taking the class on Thursday.  Thanks also for the wonderful excursion to the movies and to the Armidale Memorial Library on Wednesday.  The P&C covered the costs for this excursion, thank you! There are some photos in the "Whole School Activities" section of this newsletter. Another, great team effort!

Learn to Swim Program Now On

The wet and cooler weather is playing havoc with our learn to swim program this week. We will do our best to complete the program by booking additional days at the pool where possible.  Please note that an alternate permission note was sent home yesterday with adjusted times and some extra dates.  Please ensure this is completed and returned to school. There is no cost to students this year as the school has acquired sporting school funds, a grant from the school swimming scheme as well as the use of school funds to support this most worthwhile program.

Presentation Day

Just a reminder that our Rocky River School Presentation Day will be held on Friday 8th December here at school from 11am.  A BBQ lunch will follow and then we will present our performance of The Lion King.  Please mark this date and time into your calendar! Mr Chris Ridley, who will be taking Lower Division in 2024, will be at our school to meet us all on this day as well.

Kelly's Plains School Fete Day

We have been invited to attend the Kelly's Plains Public School Fete this year which will be held on Thursday 7th December.  We will provide more information as soon as this is available.

Dress Rehearsal - The Lion King

We will hold a dress rehearsal of our upcoming production, The Lion King, on Tuesday 5th December from 12.00-2.00pm. This will only be for our Thunderbolt Schools (Kelly's Plains, Kingstown and Kentucky) and some of the residents from McMaugh Garden's.

2024 Swimming Carnival

I know it seems a long way off, but please note that our swimming carnival for 2024 will be held at the Monkton Aquatic Centre (Armidale) on Friday 9th February 2024.  Please note, parents will need to transport their children to and from the event (however, we encourage you to stay for the day if you can). We will join with students from our Thunderbolt Schools, Kentucky, Kingstown and Kelly's Plains Public Schools.

Safety Day @ Rocky River

We have been able to put together a small Safety Day for our students in week 10 on Wednesday 13th December.. We will have two sessions from the local police about stranger danger and being safe online.  The Uralla Fire Brigade will also come along and talk with us about being safe around fires and what to do in an emergency.

Pool Party Day

We have scheduled our annual pool party for Thursday 14th December, which is the second last day of school. This will be held at the Uralla Swimming Pool from 1.00-3.00pm. Details are on the revised swimming note that was sent home yesterday.

Uralla's Carols By Candlelight

Carols by Candlelight will be held at Alma Park on Wednesday 6th December from 6pm. Our students are preparing a small item to present for those families who can attend. Please bring a picnic rug or chairs

Last newsletter will be Wednesday 6th December (Week 9)

We will publish our last newsletter for 2023 on Wednesday 6th December.  If you have any items to be added, such as community announcements, please email the details to Anne at the school.
