Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines! Are you ready, set, GO! The Year 6 Billy Cart Race was finally on its way! Two times around the oval in the fastest time was the goal. The timekeepers and inspectors – Mr Roberts and Mr Chatelier were right on the gun.
Then it was push, steer, turn, watch out, CRASH! (Although not too many of the latter!) A great time was had by all!
Many thanks to the Property Team: Daniel, Ron, Peter and Steve for pre-fabricating the carts, sharing their skills with us and helping on the day! The final podium finishers for the day were:
1st: Squidward (36.49 seconds)
2nd: S’mores (40.40 seconds)
3rd: The Rebels (44.25 seconds)

Here are a few reflections from some of the cart racers:
We have spent weeks building, painting, planning, for our billy cart race and finally the day arrived. We brought down our carts with funny team names and maybe even team costumes, we were ready to begin. Two carts went at a time racing 2 laps around the primary school oval. When it was my group's turn our billy cart was called EIEIO! Mrs Carlson got the crowd warmed up by singing a classic tune… Old Mcdonald had a farm! The day finished with announcing the winners, Squidward first… Smores second… and The Rebels third! We all were buzzing full of joy and excitement as we finished our adventure packed day ready for lunch.

Crash! Boom! The sound of the Billy Carts crashing in to each other on the day. The Billy Cart Classic has started. The first 6 teams with the fastest times would get through to the next round. Then the top 4 teams would go through to the semi finals. Then in the finals there was Squidward and S’mores. Squidward won and everyone was cheering for them! The team members of Squidward were Jireh, Jonah, Rory and Reuben.

We hurtled down the race track. I was ambivalent (having mixed feelings) about the driver. The Billy Cart ride was really fast and I heard a lot of screams!

During Term 4, our Year 5 students dedicated themselves to exploring the world of business. Learning about concepts such as goods and services, market research, marketing and advertising, and profits and losses. Students were tasked with creating a business they could run at the Year 5 Christmas Market. Their goal was to raise as much money as possible to donate to those in need. The day turned out to be nothing short of spectacular! From goal kicking, bean bag tossing, ring throwing games, to delicious cookies, captivating cupcakes and spectacular handmade jewellery. The Year 5 Christmas Market had it all. The students excelled in providing outstanding customer service and creating a lively atmosphere with the help of DJ Jake on the decks. Nearly selling out of all their products, the students successfully raised an astonishing $3000 for charity!

Student Reflections:
The buzz of voices, the crinkle of bags, and the overwhelming fact that this is it!
Thinking back on the experience now, I realise that I dove headfirst into everything, and I have to admit that sometimes it felt like we were never going to make it work. I definitely remember lying in bed one night, letting my mind wander if I was going to come out of this experience with grey hair, but no!
The amount of times that I had to shave the prices of our products, and yet all in all it was indescribably incredible!

Beautiful, extraordinary, fun and loud. These are just some of the words that can describe what the Year 5s’ Christmas Market looked like, and felt like.
They had amazing homemade foods, fun games, and spectacular customer services. Our favourite part of the market was one of the stalls that really stood out to us. They were really nice and polite when you tried to have a conversation with them, they had amazing customer service, and food that they had baked.
Some of the games were a little different to the games we would normally play, there were games like ‘Cornhole', ‘Bounce the ping pong ball into the Cup’, and lots more. It was a perfect market, it had great things to do and delicious things to eat.
We loved the idea of creating a market to raise money for different charities that help people in need of shelter, food, water and education. Last year the Year 5s (now Year 6s) donated all the money they had raised to a Christian school called Gawa Christian School. This school was in need of resources to help the Indigenous kids learn and get a good education. Every year we donate a bit of our money that we raised to them, and the rest goes to a different charity.
The Year 5s created a spectacular Christmas Market and they have raised one of the highest amounts of money that can go to a charity of their choice. Our Learning Assistants did an amazing job of helping the students who were in need of help, like making a prop, or quickly baking something. They include Mr Reading, Ms Waller, and Mrs Drennan.

WOW, I just walked into the market and my eyes are flooded with colour! There are so many stalls to choose from, I don't know where I should start! There are so many games! There is soccer, ring toss, cornhole and more! Well I guess I have to go to my stall. My mates and I have been working on a stall for the whole term and it's finally time to see if it works.
I see the Preps walk up to the door, the DJ starts the music and I begin to get nervous but also excited at the same time. I began to relax after a while, it was pretty quiet at our stall, we didn't sell much until… the JPs came, we sold so much, we started getting loads of people coming to our stall after the JPs, we had so much stock and at the end of the day we sold everything and made $437! We were so proud, but we have to thank all of the SP teachers and LAs that helped us throughout this whole term, we couldn't have done it without them. They brought so many things to decorate our stall and it would have looked so plain without them.
All of the money is going to a good cause which I am really grateful for. The money is going to Gawa Christian school and another charity that I am not sure of yet. In total the whole market made $3,000.

I push through the door and step into the pump room, disguised in beautiful Christmas decorations. I'm immediately hit by the smell of gingerbread and the sound of happy customers alongside the amazing DJ. I walk up to a stall and watch the Year 5s using their best business voice to assist customers to their stalls. There were so many different varieties of stalls and products being sold: gingerbread, earrings, fudge, games with prizes and even a photo booth. We filled up our stomachs with mouth watering gingerbread and delicious cupcakes. The stalls had 'to die for' jewellery and keychains which were hand-made to perfection. Once the market concluded we finished it off with an awesome finishing song by the DJ. This year's Christmas market has been the best one yet and we can't wait for the next one.

In Middle Primary, we have been learning about Fantastic Forces. After weeks and weeks of learning about contact and non-contact forces as well as the laws of physics, we were challenged to design and conduct our own experiment to demonstrate or test a force or one of these laws.
We hypothesised, tested, reflected, and reported on our findings. We felt like such mature scientists!
To celebrate our learning in MPG, we presented some of our projects to Mrs Allison, the Science Faculty Coordinator from Secondary school. She was so impressed with our work that she gave us each one of her most special science stickers!
It is so much fun learning about the world that God made for us and how He created these laws of physics to make everything work perfectly for us. Thank you, God!!
