Holiday reading suggestions
As the school year winds down and summer holidays are almost upon us, what better way to unwind than by escaping into the pages of a good book, letting the magic of storytelling transport us to places filled with excitement, wonder, and holiday cheer. So, whether your plans include relaxing on the beach, camping in the bush or curling up on the couch with a cuppa, here are some reading suggestions for the whole family (It was very difficult containing the lists to a handful of suggestions, but I did, otherwise this newsletter would have been the holiday reading!).
Primary aged children:
- Football superstars by Simon Mugford: extremely popular series for the sports lovers.
- The travelling bookshop series by Katrina Nannestad (in fact, anything by Katrina Nannestad!)
- Sleepover fail by Meredith Costain. Book 28 in the popular Ella diaries series
- World of click (Besties) graphic novel series by Kayla Miller
- I survived graphic novel series by Lauren Tashis
- The Violet Veil mysteries by Sophie Cleverly. Sophie is the author of the popular Scarlet and Ivy series
- Look who's talking: Episode 18 in the popular Bad Guys series by Aaron Blabey
Young adults:
- Kaldoras by Lynette Noni: the latest book in the Medoran chronicles (Akarnae)
- Keeper of the Lost cities graphic novel by Shannon Messenger. Fans of the extremely popular Keeper of the Lost cities series will be excited to hear that this is now available as a graphic novel
- Eleanor Jones is not a murderer by Amy Doak
- Nightshade revenge Book 14 of the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz
- The ministry of unladylike activity series by Robin Stevens. Fans of the Murder most unladylike series will be excited to discover this new series by Robin.
- 300 minutes of mystery by Jack Heath. The latest offering by Heath in his popular “minutes” series. Great for those who like short stories
- S.T.E.A.L.T.H series by Jason Rohan
- 12 to 22 POV: you wake up in the future! by Jen Calonita. A modern remake of 13 going on 30.
- Murtagh by Christopher Paolini. Eragon fans will be thrilled to discover a new book in the series
Adults:
- Lessons in chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
- The Thursday murder club by Richard Osman. Book 4 has been recently released.
- Lola in the mirror by Trent Dalton
- At the foot of the cherry tree Alli Parker
- Lenny gets away with murder by Kerryn Mayne
- Treasure and dirt by Chris Hammer. A new series by the author of the Scrublands series
- This light between us by Andrew Fukuda. Not to be confused with “All the light we cannot see”, Fukuda’s novel is unputdownable!
- Lady Tan's circle of women: the latest book by the terrific author Lisa See
